Hi,

I was wondering if it is worth paying the extra $50 for Featured Listings on Flippa?

Is there anyone here who used this before? Did it do any good?

Thanks

    Hi Frank

Just giving you my view as a buyer on Flippa.

I get annoyed with the featured listings. Although the site pops out compared to the other ones the featured ones mostly disappears when I search for particular parameters like older than 3 years and more than 10,000 in monthly visitors.

I look at the niche first, if it matches what I am doing, then the traffic and revenue numbers, and if there is anything worrying about the add. If it looks ok, I try to chat with the owner. It the owner seem honest I start working on my due diligence.

To get a better answer, analyze the sales on Flippa, the ones that has gotten the best sales price / monthly earnings. If the highest ones are featured, please let me know. I would not expect it.

    Kind Regards
    Bjarne

      Bjarne -

Thanks for that info from the buyer's perspective. I just listed a site that I am no longer passionate about ( WebPro Golf ) and had been toying with opting for some the upgrades.

But on the other hand, guess you can't blame businesses for always having an upsell

I will browse thru everything and look for something worth buying and within my budget. Whether they are Featured Listings or not doesn't bother me.

I have sold over $70K on Flippa and it all Depends on the site you are selling, if its a turn-key site or template site, then you might be wasting money. If its an established money-making business then the $50 featured fee will pay off.

    best of luck

Yeah, it depends. I have done both actually. I quit buying the "featured" listings a while back. I kind of realized if I was selling what someone wanted, they would buy it either way. So far this "logic" has held up.
Though from experience, the Featured Listings will get more views. Whether that turns into bids or not is another thing.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

I guess also many buyers follow the "Ending soon" section too. So basically that's a free featured listing

It really depends on your domain, if its a highend website or one that sells for a lot of money than I would definitely recommend it to increase the number of bidders. If you are selling a site for $100 or less than paying $50 is definitely not worth it.

You have to keep in mind that more views doesn't necessarily mean more bids. It comes down to how good of a site you have and what the demand for it is.

I just came across this thread and have 2 quick questions - for those that have used it, about how long did it stay "featured" for ?

I have a budget set aside to use featured twice for the 7 day auction duration, I was planning on using it shortly after getting by first bid, then about 24 hours before the end of the auction - does this seem like a sound strategy ?

No ... it's better to use it the last two days if you're going to use it twice. People hold off bidding until the last minute if they are interested so I would want the most views of the auction on the last two days.
