Urget - Need help from xsitepro 2 users

Hey,

I have website that is complete and ready to go. My problem is when I try to publish the website through xsitepro2, I get an error saying "Can't change directory to public_html/domainname.com: No such file or directory (550)." and this error causes the problem to stop, therefore not allowing me to publish the site. I need help getting my site up and running

    Hi,

Are you publishing to an addon domain, on a cpanel host?

If it's an addon, is the folder (directory) that you're trying to publish to named yourdomain.com or yourdomain?

This recent thread may help too (see post #11) -

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...-headache.html

In which field are you entering -

    public_html/domainname.com ?
Home directory, ftp directory or both?

Okay, the first thing I did was go into my cpanel in hostgator, and I selected addon domain and entered my new domain name. Then I took all of the information that was created in put them into the publishing details section of xsitepro 2. Next, I clicked on "Test FTP Connection", and everything seemed good. That's when I went ahead to publish my site and I got the 550 error.

Here are the details I entered in the publishing details section.

    Domain name: www.mydomainname.com

    Home Directory: Left blank

    FTP Server: ftp.mydomainname.com

    FTP Directory: public_html/mydomainname.com

      Hi pj413,

      Ok, thx.

You need to check this from the other thread and match it up with that -

You have two domains, the root domain (for your hosting) and the addon domain. We'll call them rootdomain.com and addondomain.com

On xsitepro2's publishing page - (probably the same on xsitepro V1) enter -

      ..............

      Domain Name - www.addondomain.com

      Home Directory - /addondomain.com

      FTP Server - ftp.rootdomain.com

      FTP Directory - /public_html/addondomain.com

FTP Username - the rootdomain username

FTP Password - the rootdomain password

      ...............

(the above is correct if your addon domain directory on the server is 'addondomain.com' If the directory is addondomain (without the .com) then you remove the '.com' from the home directory input too.)
In all of those you need to double-check whether you put the root domain or addon domain.

Plus you need to make sure you didn't miss a forward slash (like at the start of the ftp directory input)

      Any good?

      Hi pj413,

So you have changed the entries to exactly match what I pasted above? (what you had entered was incorrect previously).

You fully understand the difference between root domain and addon domains?

Do you know how to use ftp, or file manager via cpanel? - and have you used one of those to establish which format your cpanel creates the addon directory? (either addondomain.com or addondomain)

It's very difficult to help if you have done all of this and double-checked that you have entered it all correctly.

The 550 error suggests that 'the account you have currently logged in as does not have permission to perform the action you are attempting'.

You are definitely using the ftp username and password for your root domain, and not using the addon domain password?

Is your root domain working OK (checked via a browser)?

Please answer these and we can continue to eliminate what's not causing the error. Sorry about all the questions but it's the only way, beyond going to xsitepro themselves for support.

When I test the FTP connection it says success, it just wont publish my site. What is it that I supposed to tell my hosting company?

      Hi pj413,

The best thing you could do is to read my questions above, check them, and then tell us the answers.

The hosting company can't help you because they probably don't have a copy of xsitepro2 and they can't see over your shoulder. If you don't want to answer my questions, please let me know and we can both go about our seperate business - I'm trying to help you to solve your problem.

    Hey Exrat,

I just got off the phone with hostgator, and apparently I was using the wrong username. My rootdomain username was different than my login username. When I entered my login username everything went though.

Thank you for helping me, I really appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Paul
