The problem with changing autoresponders later is you may lose people on your list while transferring that list. Getresponse do a free trial for a month (then a pay as you go). Aweber is the most popular because it has a good email opening rate (plus all the other functions) but gets pricey when your list goes over 500.

I am sure there are many free autoresponders out there but even though I was tempted I didn't for the reason/s suggested (& use Aweber).

I just lazily typed in free autoresponders in my search engine to give you this link:

Well put. If you're in here for the long run, then don't be cheap on your business and I don't mean that in a harsh way

It's just think about it. If you wanted to start a McDonald's franchise you'd spend around $1 million dollars.

You want to start a local business you'll be paying at least a few thousands dollars a month on rent, electricity, etc.

You want to start a web business and you just need like $50 dollars a month.

      All the best.

P.S. Aweber is what I use

Hi Jerry I agree with Blimeyoreilly that you should go with Aweber. They do offer the trial and their support system is great. You can then grow your list and pay a bit more as you do.

There are free ones, and I urge you to avoid them, because "switching autoresponders" can be a nightmare and a disaster. And the well-known free ones have some pretty significant other drawbacks, too.

These posts/threads may help you to appreciate why ...

i seriously suggest you choose getrsponse or aweber.

however, if you really can't afford it, or just want to get used to playing with an autoresponder a bit, listwire.com is probably the best, most reliable free service out there that is solid and dependable.

Its run by a longtime WF member who also runs a paid autoresonder service. The guys knows his email autoresponder stuff.

However, if you are serious about your business, you do really need to find a way to afford aweber.com or getresponse.com.

its really a matter of practical application. If you are just starting out and only have $50 to spend. then getting hosting, a domain, and aweber is < than using instapage.com , listwire.com and buying $50 worth of advertising to drive traffic.

We can debate whether a business should be started on $50 all day long, but if you only have $50. Then spending it on services of any kind and not advertising in probably the worst thing you can do.

An empty aweber account is worth far less than a listwire account with subscribers.

i am glad i didn't take the advice like that i got some 16 years ago when started. If i had, i would probably still have a job. but instead, i have been mostly retired for a few years now. BTW. i started with my left over lunch money when i was in highschool. About $10 a week was all i could spend... that was back when domains cost $20 or so.

again, this is not about how much money you need. its about what you should do with a limited budget. having aweber and no money to do anything to get subscribers to it is useless. I am not debating that aweber is not the way to go. i believe it is.

There has been some wild arguments that have gone on in the forum over this issue (& most of those threads have either ended up deleted or locked down). There are those on one hand that say having no money is no excuse to succeed & those on the other who see money as an obstacle.

I hope this won't turn into another blazing row that gets this thread deleted (or whatever) & no one ends up getting anywhere (whether they have money or not) lol

lol. yes of course. i did. I ate bologna sandwiches for under $.50 a piece and sacrificed "a good meal then" for a life most dream of now.

also, your comments were not about having $50 to your name, but rather $50 "for business startup". then you go on to suggest that rather than invest the $50 in a business, they should just go blow on a subway meal and forget about investing in their future.

how much "extra" money would you suggest a person have before they begin to sacrifice some and invest in their future rather than consume as much "stuff" as possible today?

BTW. i am passionate about this because for the last decade or so, i have worked training convicted felons who get out of prison with about $100 to their name. I have shown many the ways to take very small amount of money and make decent incomes. i have helped some of these guys start internet business with nothing but public computer access in a library. You do not NEED the best of the best to be in business.

It should also be noted that i do have an AR account with aweber that has in excess of 400k subscribers. So i totally get the advantages and disadvantages of these things.

but if you have a very limited business budget the last thing you need to be overthinking about is automation software, or getting your open rates up a few percentage points. You need to focus 100% on getting customers and building a bigger circle of influence.

I have the answer for you as I researched this myself:

    Email Marketing Software - YMLP

Sign up for a free account - 1000 emails a month (just no analytic's).

I am getting on great with ymlp, they don't get caught in spam filters and they have a very good reputation. They basically vet new users for a period by quickly moderating your mails to make sure you're not being a spammer. This keeps the trouble out and maintains a good rep with the big emailers such as gmail, hotmail, yahoo etc.

I'm not entirely aware of any free autoresponders other than Mailchimp(They hate Internet Marketers).
    I personally use Aweber.

A good autoresponder like Aweber is probably the greatest investment for your online success. It is definitely worth it in the long term perspective.

The "free" autoresponders are free for a reason.

Go for the best that you can afford, not the cheapest. You'll be glad you did!

Hello! There's lots of auto-responders with that service. Just search for them but you know, you should just go with a paid responder as it's really hard to switch when you want to. You may lose some of your lists and details.

  • Go with Aweber. Or try out a free service like contact or mail chimp. There is even an auto responder wordpress plugin.
