What's the best way to start, then monetize, a niche directory site?
I'm thinking of starting a niche directory site in my field.
But it's a chicken and egg thing - can't get people to pay for inclusion until there are listings and traffic, so have to give away listings, but then do people pay to stay?
The only approach I can think of is to offer free listings for awhile, then email everyone after some time and say you have to pay or get deleted. Of course of nobody pays, I don't want to delete people either.
