That seems like a very general question. The problem a lot of people have is they buy loads of WSOs and don't really put some of them into action, they just end up reading more and more but not earning any money. I've been guilty of it myself but I am spending more time building up my websites and creating reviews. My next challenge is to create a product but I think I will wait till I have something worthwhile to give.
It's hard to answer your question without knowing what it is you are intending to start on. Perhaps some more information would help people to give you advice.

I am sure you will get a lot of fantastic answers to this question but the problem is all that they will do is overwhelm you a little more. So if you want some motivation and a relaxing read of the answers that just fine, but if you are looking for a method to implement in a real hurry then my suggestion would be relax and take things slow. Go through the various techniques you come across in the forum, make a list of all of them, start eliminating the ones that you feel you are not comfortable doing based on your current skill set, narrow down the options and take your time to commit to just one such method for a certain time frame.

You will see the results if you stick around in the game.

    Cheers

I just keep the forum open and hit refresh several times a day. I look at the new posts and click on threads that sound interesting to me. There is a lot of info here but I have also learned a lot and also found other resources here that have helped me along the way.

Mr L. James makes a great point. In IM you need a specific detailed plan otherwise don't plan on getting too far.

I see lots of newbies come on this forum making threads like this, and I understand your being overwhelmed, but that just means you are still reading IM like a subject, rather than a career or job.

You need to scope out an area you're interested in, then tackle it head on.

So my only answer for you right now would be start a website, I'd imagine thats one of the first things any person new to IM would do. It would be a great idea however to spend a week or 2 researching a profitable niche BEFORE wasting time on a site.

Go look around, find what people are buying, what so called products are "hot", then design a site that offers value in those niches.

For me, honestly I did not research a niche I went the offline marketing route. I found companies who needed web design, and I am loving the way its turning out mainly because I'm an artistic/creative person. I only finished 2 sites so far and ALREADY I'm getting referals for $800 websites. Last couple I did were $500, I made it a point to make the sites as nice as I possibly could, and of course I get a phone call today through family from a business friend of a brother looking for a site, and willing to pay $800 now.

So I think I've accidentally found my "niche", which right now is web design. It pays, I've been busting my ass learning wordpress, and right now I'm definitely starting to reap the fruits of my labor.

The reason I had faith in this plan is there are lots of people in my family, or friends with my family who own businesses, so it made most sense. Now your job is to find out what makes most sense to you. What are you good at? What do you have resources for already that won't take years to develop skills in?

Thats kinda how I thought about it, and although I'm not technically in internet marketing, and working more offline with clients, I absolutely love it, and was able to quit my job within 1 month of finding this site.

Warrior forums is one of the most incredible forums I've ever been a member on, and I honestly can't tell you what its done for my life. But you DO NEED TO TAKE ACTION, and you need to USE YOUR BRAIN. You need to sieze opportunities the minute they present themself and not a second later.

Then the second people actually start giving you money, always try to give them an avalanche of value in return. It will make people want to keep using you, and will open up the door for other things.

    Good luck! - Red

    Hello Mizzouri,
I understand it can be a bit of a struggle to find the right starting point. I had the same problem.
I tried various things until I found someone who could really teach and get the information across with the purpose of being able to implement it. There is a process, step by step action in every skill you engage upon learning. When you know how to apply it, it becomes a breeze to implement it. It does of course take a bit of work. But when you understand how to do it, it becomes fun instead of struggle and frustration.
    All the best,
    Truls

It's best if you can find something that fits your interests or knowledge. Something you can speak with authority on is much easier then trying to learn something new. All the rest, like building websites, etc. is easily learned. Provide good information that people are searching for but is not available or is poorly represented.

    Start at the beginning...
It's always the best place to start...

    Seriously, Your question's too general.
Be more specific and you might get better answers.

I'm trying to say this in a positive way.

    Hope that helps,
    Have a Great Day!

I think there is a theme. You need to pick a niche, decide what way you would like to make money. I always say that in a place like this you should learn learn learn. Then spend spend spend. That way all the money you spend has a focus and direction. You can lose your shirt just floating around following what everyone says. There are some awesome resources here. USE THEM! You will be fine just make sure you have a game plan. If you fail don't give up. Keep a log of all that you do so you will no what not to do.

BUILD A LIST! BUILD A LIST! BUILD A LIST!

Either by becoming an Affiliate or by offering any product or service - first get subscribers to your offerings. Then - engage them with a healthy mix of content and promotion. And finally - monetize them on each instance possible, without overdoing it

    Hey Mizzou,
    Welcome.
I mentioned this in a post the other day, but I'll mention it again here.
Most people when they start in Internet Marketing really don't know which direction they want to take.

IM is a very broad term and can encompass a lot of areas:
    Affiliate Marketing
    Email Marketing
    Product Creation and Sales
Creation of Websites whose sole purpose it to attract readers, that subsequently click on advertisements (these could be google ads or Amazon products as an example) to earn commission.
Selling Web Services to local companies
    And so on.

Those are just a few examples.
So the first thing you should do is familarize your self with the high level principles of these methods and determine which one, and only one, you want to follow.

You could determine that by your skills, you time, your likes and dislikes.

Once you've determines which single avenue you want to follow, I suggest you buy 1 or two courses in that area.

Then make your own plan of attack based upon the teachings of the courses.

Figure out the activities you must take, and then do it.

And stick with it long enough to give things a chance to take hold.

    All the best,
    Patrick Batty
