anybody know a good affiliate program that converts that age group? I have 4000 visitors a day in that market and so far I am having a difficult time getting a cent out of them.

I am new to IM and so far trial and error has been mostly error..

Do you have Adsense on the site? You might try that or some games, music, video, celeb., etc. CPA offers.

Yea I think this is an error because you are talking about one of the most broke demos out there. Some kids have jobs at 16 but hold onto their money. That or they have to ask their parents for money to buy. Not impossible but it does make the sales process a little bit harder because you have a concerned parent added to the equation. I must say though that 4k visitors a day is pretty impressive though if you just started.

Want a sure fire way of getting some good ideas for products? How about you ask them? Figure out how it will work with your set up but just straight up ask them, girls this age LOVE to give you their opinions. Mask it with a poll about which type of products they like to buy or have bought online but this is often the most over looked way of getting product ideas.

They may be broke but their parents aren't.

Ask Disney, Nick, etc, how nice that market it.

My experience with the teen & tween market has always been positive. It's probably because I have a solid career background in teen magazines.

I'd recommend you spy on teen mag sites. What are they promoting? For instance, Teen Vogue is an Amazon affiliate and they're mostly promoting popular acne products from Amazon store.

You can put Adsense on your site, but you should better find a private advertising network.

I'd also recommend you follow Disney celebrities (Miley, Selena, Demi, Jonases) on Twitter. Why? Because most of their tweets are sponsored by popular brands. It's a great way of watching trends in the market. You'll see where the advertising money is usually coming from.

One more tip. Teens love reading. (I can talk about this forever but I won't lol).
So always be in the know, watch bestsellers and upcoming teen novels. Vampires, ghosts, hunters, whatever... Publishers of these novels do spend tons of advertising money. Search and find out what ad network they're using. Or, directly email them.

Hint: Not only vampire romance, but also celeb biographies get clicks.

    I hope this helps. Cheers

lol what are they gonna pay you with girl scout cookies? You may want to market to the parents of these girls by indirectly getting them to get their parents credit cards out.

Example: Must be over 18 to buy these products this is a good time to ask your parents for your allowance

Example: Your mom and Dad should buy you these go ahead see if it is ok

That could be a very tough market to crack.

What about some subscriptions / special offers for kids magazines that cater for that age group. I'm sure you could strike a good deal with one of them such as Bliss, Teen Voices, Tammy, etc. There must be dozens you could approach. Recurring advertising income for you as well.

Little girls don't have credit cards... Also I'm not sure about you guys, but I used to be between the ages of 13-17 not too long ago and getting my parents to use their credit card online was just not possible... Have something that is free to enter such as a coach handbag email submit or something (even though that will also likely require them to be 18 years old+ in the fine print).

Sure and my Mum used to tell me to go and do the gardening or clean the car if I wanted something. The thing is, as a few people have mentioned, is that some kids are spoilt rotten - Those people will be able to get their folks to use their credit cards and that group is sadly quite large (and probably one of the reasons for the entitlement attitude we tend to see nowadays).

Richard, I agree there are a lot of spoiled teenagers around with a strong feeling of entitlement.

However, that's not always the case in purchasing items online. Again, speaking from my own narrow experience, my daughter always had to work to earn extra money. (Along with doing plenty of things around the house NOT for money.) But when she did earn extra money I would sometimes pay her in cash and other times buy something for her that she had found on the internet. I don't really think it's that hard for teenagers to convince their parents to use their credit card online anymore. But that doesn't always mean they're spoiled brats. (Often it does..lol...but not always.)

You can have paypal at 13 - WITH parental backing/permission.

You can have credit card access as a teen - WITH parental backing

Today - if there's something a teens want to buy...there's often a way to buy it.

If your site is getting 4k visitors and no sales - that tells me the niche is catching their attention...but the product isn't attracting them.

If you think so, then why don't you suggest an affiliate program that will convert well for girls age 13-17?

Sure getting a kid to get their hands on a credit card is one thing, but to get them to purchase something through some sort of affiliate program is another..

13-17 is a nightmare age group because they are too young to have their own financial independence and too old to have their parents shop for them.

don't worry, Onora, it seems some people on here have selective reading, and it's much more important for them to look like they know what they are talking about.

I think we should just ignore the negative naysayers because they obviously don't have a clue.

That can be a really lucrative target group with the right offers, I think. I would definitely spend some time testing different things out, if I were the OP.

I'd like to know your reasoning on the comment about being difficult to convert. This particular demographic has a massive amount of disposable spending money (notice I didn't say income) and they are notorius impulse buyers. All you have to do is figure out what they're buying and leave the rest to nature and some good copy.

I was thinking of suggesting teen magazines, but I have seen that and a ton of other great recommendations already given. From experience, I can tell you that girls that age really enjoy surveys as well so that should be something easy to implement. So much good information though from fellow warriors, you have got a good chance of making some great money here.

Try to create a special community at something like $4.99/mo if it's possible in your case... and if they dont have credit cards or paypal account then you can bill them via mobile and they can cancel anytime they want.

Or you sell advertise space on your site and someone will figure out how to monetize this kind of demo.

Ringtones as others said would be great as well but there is not too many nowadays...and other CPA offers like email submit and such will not work at all and
even if they enter their email adress, sooner or later the merchant will tell you to stop
sending him traffic because it doesnt convert for him on the backend.

But I'd say a community site would be the best idea imo.

This question can be easily answered by following the same formula you would when trying to monetize any other form of traffic.

Ask yourself, "What problems does my audience face? What hardships are they seeking more information on or solutions to?"

The female teen demographic is no different, and, in my opinion, can be some of the most rabid buyers on the planet. Find a way to help them solve, cope with, master, or learn more about a pressing issue that teenage girls face and you'll find that they will find a way to pay you for this information/product/etc.

For example, many in this demographic are seeking acceptance and expression. Particularly through fashion, facebook, twitter, etc. No girl in that demographic wants to be the odd one out who doesn't have the latest trendy shoes, accessories or whatever. This need for acceptance and approval of their peers is powerful. Putting yourself in their shoes, as I have in this paragraph, makes it easy to figure out what you can put in front of them for easy sales.
