Hi there warriors ! I hope you all doing all right ! I have a question about article posting on word press blogs ! What I used to do is order like 5 -6 articles at first and posts them us they were written . After that I was taking care of the back links . I know that I have to keep the websites alive but the question is how often should i post the articles to keep the website updated and at the same spot in Google ? What is the strategy here ?

You can update your articles as often as you wish, myself I update mine twice a week one on a wednesday as people are getting over their wkend about this time and then i post 1 of a weekend also as more people tend to be online.

after posting each article i spend an hour backlinking that article each day, it does not take long and if you have your bookmarks organised and use tools such as lastpass for remebering your passwords it makes things easier.

use and actively promote each article in sites such as digg
    stumbleupon
    tumblr
    facebook
    twitter
    etc etc,

keep at it and you will see a gradual increase.

    Hope this help

I've just finished this post. It's a serious, thought-provoking eyeopener. Why Posting Every Day is a Silly Strategy (And What to Do Instead)

Annie: Skimmed through the post so please forgive me if this was already covered.

What if you're just getting started as a blogger? Wouldn't it make sense to post a few articles initially to make the site "appear active"? Or should the initial posts still be scheduled in a weekly fashion (given the fact that people can tell when a post was made)?

Whenever I start a new site, I put 5 posts up to start with. I'm not trying to create an illusion of being active (what is the point of that? They still know it is a new blog, and if your content is interesting they'll check back and figure out your real posting schedule), no point in setting a precedent of constant daily posts that I don't intend to keep.

Anyways, the 5 articles ensure that they actually have something to read and are not staring at a blank site. From there, I put up a new article every five days. Those that come to the site to get the article figure out the schedule fairly quickly, mostly because I state it outright.

Yes, definitely. In the beginning, populate your blog with a lot of good, informative, readable content. You need to establish some authority at the start.

In fact, I wouldn't advise that you follow the advice in that article for at least three months, then cut back gradually and write stellar content which will attract a loyal audience. Quality over quantity always wins..

Anne, keep that link handy for the next time someone asks about guest posting and the quality it takes to crack a serious blog.

Dmitri, the info in that post agrees pretty closely with what John Locke (million-plus selling fiction writer for the Kindle) says in his book on how he sold a million books.

ctadvert is right. Just try to be consistent.

I usually try to do 5-10 articles up front. Then add in 1-2 per week for the next month.

After that I drop down to maybe 1 per week or every other week.

Of course, quality is far more important than quantity so make sure you're only posting the highest quality content on your site!

    Good luck!

    Michael

another quick tip for your keywords in your articles use LSI keywords in your articles.

You can find suitable LSI keywords for your keywords by typing your keywords in Google and scrolling to the bottom you will see a whole bunch pick a couple and include them in your Articles for maximum exposure.

    P.s your welcome

  • Post as often as is good for your audience. Search engines don't care how often you post.

So you saying it is all about backlinks ? I thought rank depends also on the posting frequency and the fact that you update your website . I was ranking very well for all my website I've started and all of them had links to the posts , but when I've stopped posting fresh content for 2-3 weeks , majority of the website went down in rankings ending up somewhere page 4 of so .

You are correct, dimitri -- but it's just one factor. There are a lot of other factors, some of which I suspect Google keeps to itself.

Nevertheless, more about Google's Freshness Algorithm (in Google!): Google's Freshness Algorithm - Google Search

No, I think what PassiveIncomeTeacher is trying to say is that Google and other search engines care about your users being happy.

Thank you , I understand that but the wish to make your readers happy doesn't get you the readers . First you need to rank and espouse your site to them isn't that right ? And I need good strategy how to get there but most important stay there .

If you go with that mindset, you are one algorithm change from being completely f***ed. If you are dependent on a search engine to bring in new readers, then you are a slave to what they want. As to what you can do to get around it? You can always try article syndication, although it is not for everyone.

I think it depends on your blog's niche! I mean common if it's a current affair's niche blog you might want to update it more frequently. However, if it is based on something which has a longer lasting phase than a couple days you can go for like 2-3 posts a week. Personally, I post one article a day on my soccer blog.

It all depends on your niche. Some niches are more competitive and you will need to post more often, whereas others are not. It also depends on how much traffic you want to produce.

Picking up a copy of Turn Words Into Traffic would be a smart idea. I just recently read it. If I had some of that stuff when I was a beginner I would be a lot further than I am now.

Some great ideas, some other stuff that makes me scratch my head; but overall a great tool for a newbie writer.
