Do you +1 your own content?

I have done this continuously from the very start of my Blog as soon as I post new content.

I have not noticed any side effects, just wondering how many other people do this with their own content. I think it is a good idea also because you are claiming rights to your work.

Matt Cutts posted a video saying that if Site A got indexed every hour, and Site B got indexed every 24 hours, then it would be possible for Site B to list a really good article, and for Site A to copy it on their site and get indexed and credited for the work.

I think +1 your own content protects that from happening. Not main reason I do it, just saying.

Depending on your page rank and how you have your sitemaps, it could take hours to days (not often weeks) for your content to show up on the google index.

I did hear that +1ing your content does help get your page indexed faster though.

Giving +1 to any content is just like giving a Like on Facebook...it doesn't actually influence SERP rankings so much.

And yeah, I +1 my own content too just for fun and for raising the number of likes

A Google +1 is way better then a Facebook like. Facebook likes are almost worthless, but Google Plus Ones are a strong social signal.
By giving a +1 to your own content won't help you a lot. You need to get people engaged and to recommend your content in order to obtain some good results.

I +1 my own posts in the hopes that people will +1 more than if it was simply at zero. At the very least it helps a tiny bit anyway, so why not take the extra step, even if it is like voting for yourself in an election.

Yes I +1 my own articles, but I also think it has not any big influence. It is always nice to increase the number and if it helps index my site faster than why not.

+1s are great if it looks natural and organic. Remember Google wants fresh, relevant content. If your site is getting a lot of traffic and the users are leaving their "social footprint" then Google will take notice and improve your SERP.
