Default Wait for a big launch or just throw it out there?

I'm currently working on my first project. And I'm
trying to figure out how I should launch it. I keep
hearing about how much money there is in the
launch of sites, but I am thinking that I should just
get my website up and running as soon as possible.

I know I will be able to make more on the launch day
if I wait. But seeing as how this is my first product
I'm very tempted just to get the site up and going
so I can start building my list. Plus no one really
knows my name yet so it would be a little harder to
get JV's in the first place.

Also if I just go ahead and launch it myself as soon
as it's done, would I be able to do a 're-launch' in
the future?

Anyone here ever relaunched one of their site's that's
been up for awhile and had some good success doing
so?

Thanks for the help!
