What would you advertise in PEOPLE?

So, I was at the hairdresser, and flipping through PEOPLE magazine. I noticed that a skyscraper advert costs around $200.

Circulation goes through to 1 647 000 people a week.

What would you advertise and do you think it would be a good thing to try? I've done newspaper classifieds with a lot of success - so I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience doing CPA/Product sales through a gossip magazine like People!

Thanks a bunch

    Are you sure it's $200?

You don't usually get exposure to 1.5m in the form of a skyscraper ad for that price.

If that's the deal I'd hazard a guess that it's a great bargain!

Yeah, that's incredible! For a local paper near to my family, it's £350 - or $530+ - for a circulation in the tens of thousands! Are you sure you didn't miss off a zero?

For $200 I'd advertise in People every week! (especially if you sell something women like)

If that's their ad price then I'm going to see how much it would cost me to get on their "beautiful people" list. Then I'm calling up Beyonce and asking her to audition with me for "Dancing with the Stars."

    Things are looking up!

    Regards,

I'm going to resist the urge to be sarcastic in return, and rather, go walk to my nearest cafe to buy the People magazine. I'll come back once I scan the images.

Hold on there YP! Don't confuse my sense of humour (such as it is) with me being sarcastic at your expense. It's Friday and I'm feeling giddy...that's all .

Hmm, I doubt the magazine they are referencing is actually People magazine. If it were, why wouldn't they use the actual People font/logo in that ad?

I'm guessing it's some other mag that has 1.6 million people reading it. Fairly clever ruse, if so, since people see what they want to see!

I think you must have misunderstood something. Maybe you saw advertising rates for some other publication. These are the People mag rates

$200 for Skyscraper, I am sure you have misunderstood the pricing, it is impossible for such a large circulation

    Skyscrapers are 120x 600 - no?

These ads are half a page long. And it's usually next to a gossip section with four ads next to each other. There are three or four in the classifieds section.

They also have quarter page ads for $350.
