Stop Bad Bots and Scrapers with a FREE Wordpress Plugin

Okay, so I've seen a number of guys selling plugins that are less effective than some free plugins I've seen, so I thought I'd share this with you.

There's no need to pay $37 or whatever for something you can get for free.

Firstly, you can simply edit your Robots.txt file (I'm sure there are many threads on here that'll show you how to do that).

Secondly, install a plugin called "Bad Behavior" to your Wordpress blog. Although nothing is 100% effective, this plugin is better than most of the paid products I've seen popping up.

      Glad to help. Askismet is also a great plugin to stop comment spam 99% of the time, but the real problem is harvesters/scrapers that eat your bandwidth and slow down your site. Since website loading speed is a big factor when it comes to good Google rankings, it's vital that you do everything you can to block bad bots.

      Of course, there are smart bots that will work their way around any plugin, but using Askismet and Bad Behavior should block the majority.
