My first amazon affiliate site

Hello folks,

I'm a completly newbie in amazon affiliate marketing. In this thread I would like to show the steps that I'm following to get success in my new project. I will tell you the progress of this project and I will ask you your advice.

Now I'm thinking in my first step: Choosing a good domain name with keyword related with the products I want to sell.

My main keyword has a local search of 12.000 but the domain is registered (without content). I have thought I could registered the domain myKEYWORD.com which is free. Other alternative will be a domain with keyword with 3600 or 720.

Now I'm trying to decide which is the best domain. I'll tell you my decision tomorrow.

Any advice is welcome!

Search volume isn't nearly as important as competition analysis, you should really be sure to deeply analyse the first page of google. I mean you could find keywords with millions of searches (probably) but you will never, ever, ever rank for them.

You're starting on the right foot, but be SURE to check competition...not just search volume.

Choose a domain name that is brandable. Although you are targeting organic search traffic, you want your visitors to return on their own.

Which site would you be more likely to return to or fork your credit card over to:

    underwaterdigitalcamerasunder500.info

    or

    digicamstoday.com

    See what I mean?

Here is how i choose a domain name for my amazon site.

    1. If i want to promote gas cooker, i first of all find a good keyword targeted at Gascooker, it could be cheapgascooker or something of that nature usually not less than 5, 000 global search. My home page never targets one keyword, if am choosing cheapgascooker dot com, i will target both "cheap gas cooker", gas cooker" and two others if there are available good keywords. The home page will have autoresponder along with content.

    2. Next, i will find about 5 or more gas cooker products keyword and use each of them as my site pages. These are often 100% buying keywords. I always prefer to stick and start with low keyword competition. Write reviews for the page.

    3. I setup a blog thou not always. Blog is good because it aid communication with my visitors on new product releases.

    Good luck.

Yeah dude wolfmmiii is right on with his usual advice to not put too much stake into keyword research and EMDs. I just pick products that I personally like from Amazon and that aren't one of the common things affiliates are promoting and then just use a domain that's short and sweet. Like for a new site I was thinking about using wakeupandgo.com for a site that sells high-tech alarm clocks.

Exactly. That's actually a catchy and memorable domain name. And it's relevant to the visitor.

Ok... I have take into account the competition and I have to said that... I WAS WRONG! Google keyword tool says there is a high competition, moreover I searched with my domain keywords and I see it with my own eyes.

So now I know it's not a good niche, so I can reveal . I was thinking to create a review site about robot vaccum cleaners in Spanish, but there are a lot of websites that sell this products

I will start the search for a new niche right now and I will keep you updated!

    Thanks for the advices!

You've made the mistake that it seems we ALL make when we do keyword research using google keywords tool. The competition Bar actually means ADVERTISER COMPETITION, since we are in the adwords section. This is completely unrelated to SEO Competition.

If you ever want to put something like Adsense on your site at one point, then having a high competition means advertisers bid higher in general and you get paid more per click.

Any product-related niche will probably be tough, its your job to find a keyword within those niches that still get decent search volume and then start with that.

When it comes to promoting specific products, the Keyword Tool is often not accurate. If you plugin the products that I promote into the keyword tool, it would show very few searches. However, my sites typically enjoy good traffic.

    Hello again Warriors,

Yesterday I found to new niches in my language about customes.

The first is a keyword exact .org domain with 12100 local search and 4 million results (some of the with keyword exact domain .com .net)
The second one is a keyword exact .eu domain with 27100 local search and 2,5 million results (no keyword exact competition). I don't know if .eu domain will rank well.

The price range of these products is between 10 and 50 euros, so the benefits are small.

What do yo think? Should I start one of this project?
