Not Credited With A Definite Clickbank Sale?

Hi,

About 2 weeks back, I answered a couple of questions via email with a lady interested in a product I'm promoting.

This particular affiliate site of mine has just a presell/sales page with the order button bypassing the main sales page & going straight to the order page.

Last week, while following up with her, she wrote back to say that she had bought the book including an upsell.Unfortunately for me, clickbank never credited me with the sale :-(

I did check all the aff links.

Did any of you ever successfully furnish details to either CB or the owner of the product and get credited?

I know, some of you might think I should just carry on and not waste time thinking abt this 1 sale..but, I had invested so much time with this customer, and so, getting credit for this particular sale would be really sweet.

Unfortunately when you bypass the merchant sales page your affiliate link is not cookied. So you have to just call it a loss. The only way you would have gotten the sale is if your visitor had bought the product the same time the clicked on your link.

Also if they had clicked on someone else website then that affiliate would get credit for the sale because their ID Would be cookied.

There is a way how to do it though I am not sure exactly how. I think you could visit through affiliate link and then copy the url of the order page that would have you affiliate ID then use that when sending persons to the cashout page.

Then again I could be wrong.

Hope someone else can help you with that.

PS. Who knows how many sale you have lost out on??????

Yeah the cookie probably didn't get loaded. Even if you were loading the cookie in an iframe or image before sending them to the order page, the visitor may have had third party cookies disabled (it is a default in IE6+).

Also, maybe she visited another review site that loaded a cookie upfront. Alot of marketers are doing that to steal sales but they eventually get banned for it (from what I hear).

So far, I haven't found a solid link cloaking tool or script that can get past the third party cookie issue. Plus i hate using iframes because of google's adword policy.

Or maybe CB just didn't track your sale, because they don't care.
What a ridiculous thing to say - especially when it is clear that the OP has bypassed the correct sales procedure.

Unfortunately (maybe not so?), you run the risk of this happening by ignoring the usual sales process that is put in place to ensure that you get credit for your work...

There are ways around this that would allow you to still have the same on-site effect as what you have already... but that's a whole other thread.. and forum come to think of it...lol..

Write it off as a lesson learned and now modify your pages to follow the correct procedure..

    Peace

Whats the point of taking the effort and time to coach/teach/ your list subscribers and then send them to a lousy original sales page?

This method has worked well for me and I have the original owners permission to do what I'm doing.

If it's a lousy sales page, let your clients know to ignore it, and point out where the order button is. I don't know what you're coaching on, but if it's IM then you can mention they will be seeing an example of a bad sales page.

As far as permission from the original owner, why not offer to help them bring the page up to your standards?

        All the best,
        Michael

Thanks Michael. Its definitely not in the IM niche and maybe coaching was not the right word to use.I share my experiences, tips and strategies.

Harvey, I would appreciate it if you take your gripe with a particular poster and post it in your own thread.

Thank you Alan. The product I'm promoting is top notch and works well with a content site I have.I have no intention to create a product in this niche. Its not about customer service, its just taking care of concerns, providing tips and showing the right direction(atleast in my opinion) to people on my list.

Here's what I'd do if I was really set on doing this.

Set up the following page up on your site:
    1) say's something along the lines of "you are being forwarded to the order page"
    2) stuff the cb cookie
    3) after 3 seconds, forward to the order page

then instead of linking to the order page, you link to this new page.
