Hey guys, Who Needs Voice-Overs?

This just hit me, and I was wondering, who here needs voice talent?

Or rather, know where an actor can get work in our world of internet marketing?

I know I seem to come here every week asking you guys for tips on places to look for certain things.

Struggling actor looks for work!

Actors act silly, no laughs heard!

And other somesuches.

So, my friends, where might I go to find work for voice overs?

Thanks for the replies ahead of time!

    Sean,

If you're looking for voiceover work, don't think too broad. Think specialty niche. (Yep, just like any other marketing.)

    * You could offer to interview webmasters, record the session, edit it and supply it to them complete with intro and outro music ready to distribute to their subscribers and members.

    * You could offer to do intro clips for websites that don't yet have an audio greeting.

    * Or you could be more proactive and contact someone with a really good how-to book and offer to JV with them, making an audio version of their product. They get a new, upscaled product out of it, and ideally it gives you residuals from their sales.

In each of these cases, you take the lead and suggest ways that clients can use your services. Don't wait for them to do the thinking. Do it for them, and you'll attract more business.

If you need any hints or how-tos on the technical end of recording and editing calls, just give a shout. I'll be happy to show you how I've been doing it. (It's a lot simpler than it sounds.)

You could register at elance and odesk (both .coms) and also here under the 'Warriors For Hire' section. You may pick up some freelance work that way.

It would probably be useful to do some demos even if they are just examples, that you can have available for enquirers. I'd also recommend that you set up a webpage of your own, with some examples.

The best advice is to get your equipment and software and just start contracting out your voice. Or stay tuned for my new book on how to get in the voice over business and actually make money.

      Check out voice123.com, Elance.com and Guru.com.

They all have areas for voice talent.

Have you thought about posting a WSO right here. I'm sure there are non-native English speakers and ppl not comfortable with their own voice who'd like their videos etc voiced-over??
