Noob Question on Cookies

A customer clicks on an affiliate link of affiliate A for a certain product of a Merchant that has a 30 days cookie period. Supposedly say on the 10th day ( which is still within the cookie period ) the same customer clicks through another different affiliate link of affiliate B for the same or even different product but to the same Merchant, will the second affiliate ( Affiliate B ) cookie over ride the first cookie of Affiliate A?

    Hi,

It doesn't depend on the cookie, it depends on the affiliation platform's policy... I believe that most of them would give priority to the last referrer but that's not an obligation.

    Seb.

Do you use Facebook ? Then you can make money just by inviting people to a Facebook group ! It's called the Instant Income System. How cool is that?

Person B gets the sale simple as. For example I click your link ok and I go to Amazon, I do not buy anything and leave. Later that day I click another affilaites link to Amazon, this time I do buy something. You get nothing.

As Amazon cookie is only 24 hours unless product has been put in basket, same applies for 30 days, does not matter, the last affiliate link used will be the person who is credited for the sale/s.

No problem. Be aware I think programmes used by some are capable of determining if your link was used at any stage in relation to the person, and you could get a small % of the sale. They call this a tier system, a UK bike affiliate I know off are using this.

Seems quite fair, because you did originally get the person interested in their company at first, so means you would still get credited with something. Who knows maybe as things advance all could be like this one day.

It depends on the affiliate network/system being used.

In the case of ClickBank, for example, "the most recent cookie gets the sale". But there are many others with which that isn't the case. (And, of course, still others which aren't cookie-based at all).
