If Amazon Begins Charging Sales Tax Nationwide Will They Still Get Rid Of Their Affiliates?

Amazon has agreed to start charging sales tax in my home state. That said do I still need to fear possibly losing my affiliate status?

Here's the thing Amazon abolished their affiliate program in certain states to remove their physical presence (the affiliate) and avoid having to charge/collect sales tax in those states. But if they reach agreements with these states to charge sales tax which the states can collect for extra revenue, what incentive do they really have to keep their affiliate program going? As an affiliate you are pretty much at their mercy and subject to their whims.

Amazon is not charging sales tax - the state is. Amazon is collecting the tax for the state. Some states have worked with Amazon - with others Amazon wasn't able to resolve issues or details so disabled its program in those states.

If Amazon has agreed to collect the tax for your state - it shouldn't affect your affiliate status.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

You could still use the Power of Amazon and it's fantastic sales machine but you have to think out of the box.Sell good quality products to Amazon affiliates, this way you avoid representing Amazon in the areas of the US that are being targeted.
