A quick blog / facebook tip

My wife set up a blog a number of months back. She was only posting to it around once a week, maybe less. Just random thoughts, photos etc. Anyway, within a couple of months it had gained a PR3 ranking. I couldn't figure out why. It wasn't getting much traffic appart a few of her friends having a look. Plus, the permalinks have never been set properly and still appear as numbers.

Anyway, she told told me one thing she did, and that's set up her Facebook notes to accept the feed from her blog. So whenever a new blog is posted, it will automatically appear as a new note in Facebook. It's easy to set up, just by going to 'notes' in Facebook and adding the blog url there.

Sounds pretty simple I know, but if that's what has helped her blog, then it's gotta be worth trying.

Heard it for the first time. Glad that it is working for your wife. People have different strategies to build their own blog and provide for traffic to it. Glad to hear that from you.

I have a question....

It seems that most facebook profiles are closed to the public and therefore spiders won't see links on them....

So how do links on your profile help?

Hi Nick, yes, you're right. That's something I didn't even think of
My own account is set up on a network, so I generally take it for granted that people at least on that network can easily view my page. But no, the spiders still wouldn't be able access those notes regardless of how many people are on that network.

Still, it's a nice feature to have. Imagine you have 200 friends on facebook. You write a blog post, it automatically appears as a note and then all your friends receive a notification letting them know you've posted a new note.

Now, I'm back to wondering how my wife got that PR3.
