2.54am I cant sleep - Bloke's in hospital after falling off a roof today!

So I prob should be sleeping, but my Bloke was working on a roof and it collapsed underneath him.

One of his vertibrae 'exploded' and a bit of it has broken off and is pushing on his spinal cord.

I just spend 8 hours in the hospital - test after test after test. He'll need more tests tomoz to see just how bad it is, but they say at best he'll be out of action for up to 3 months!

I guess he's retired a tad sooner than I'd thought! LOL

The good news?

Just got my all time motivation to get my business cranking!!!

It's all up to me know - woot - nothing like a bit of pressure!

I know this doesn't really have much to do with internet marketing - but as my family are asleep (along with everyone else I can talk to) I'm left with my warrior mates - hope you dont mind.

As a person with a lower lumbar injury since sophomore year high school (sports) ... I can totally relate to what you and your guy are going through.

Hopefully all things will come together nicely: your business ramps up to support you both and he heals well, but remains home to work the business with you.

Best of luck to the both of you!

        hey thanks

I have major back issues too - I had emergency surgery on my neck last year (got a really cool scar & a motorbike chain link holding my head on LOL) when my disc was so squooshed it was crushing my spinal cord (almost completely thru - apparently I was a sneeze away from a wheelchair) so I know what's he's goin thru - and it sucks!!

He'll be fine cause he has to be - still sucks!

My brother is a roofing contractor. Most people don't realize how dangerous that job can be. They earn their money and then some. Hope your guy has a full recovery.

yeah - i'm hopin he's gonna be just fine - he's the worst patient in the world when he's got a cold, but this'll render him completely insufferable! Someone at the hospital asked if I was gonna give him a bell - not bloody likely! LOL

Trying to find the funny side ATM! I'm not really sure there is one!

That bell now, that could be a classic Aussie tale...update us when you do get him one and he's had it a week!

    Heya Stef,

Rough news... but the silver lining is that you both might need this to go to the next level. My wife and I hit a recent strong of "bad luck" that has forced us to speed up our plans and get serious about a few things that we had on the backburner. Of the few Aussies I have met, it seems like there is nothing like a challenge to get them moving!

As for your SO, I will be sending him a Divine Healing... and I will send you an Intention Opening for your marketing efforts! Yeah - its a bit "woo-woo", but it doesn't hurt!

I do know that you are on the right track, and that you should have NO problems getting things going. PM/email me sometime... perhaps we can work together on the Offline thing.

    Best regards!
    Ron

Sorry to hear about the bad luck your having. Just have to hope for the best and pray that it happens. I agree with rlnorthcut about the silver lining though.

    Best of luck
    David

p.s. I also liked the bell comment!

hey folks - thanks for your support - it means more than you realise.

Bloke will be stayin in for a couple of weeks - flat on his back, and not allowed to move at all. Now the nurses have to deal with the bell!

I was up there yesterday for the day - went to get some lunch and ducked in quicky and quietly to get some chest pains looked at - apparently when you say "I have chest pains" there's no quick or quiet! 8 hours later I was allowed to go after a barrage of tests and needle stabs!

Apparently I was having some kind of major stress/ anxiety attack - can't imagine why LOL

All the while my kids and Bloke are wondering WFT!

Moral of the story - if you're having chest pains - stay away from the emergency department LOL (I think that's the moral ??)

The upside - it's gotta get better from here!

Don't forget to take care of yourself too Stef!

And I agree that the idea of the bloke-with-a-bell isn't a good one.

Best wishes to you and your family.

    Hey Stef,

Caught this and just wanted to let you know I prayed also for your husband and the continued increase/success of your business.

As much as a go-getter and 'rain maker' as you've already shown you can be,
I'm sure the best is still yet to come.

      Stef,

Wishing you and your other half the best! It's better he stay in the hospital for 2 weeks than move around a lot and screw up his spinal cord. My nephew drove in a pool and caused spinal cord injuries at age 17 and was a c5 quad.

Tell him to take it easy and relax, things will get better. Don't get yourself sick over all this, stress isn't a good thing and can cause more than chest pains. Just remember this all will pass in time.

hey Charles - thanks - he's beating himself up for being so bloody stupid, but he's staying completely still. I'm having a hard time keeping quiet - I want the docs to do an MRI to find out just how much it is pressing on his spinal cord - unfortunately he's in the wrong hospital for an MRI.

hehe - went and bought a few bits & pieces to make Bloke's life a little easier.

I picked up a bell at the shops - thought for a moment, mentally slapped myself and put it back on the shelf LOL!!
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[572423].message }}
  • Wow! Spinal injuries, chest pains -- you and yours are having a busy week! I hope your Bloke gets all better and that you avoid any more pressing pain than having to lift a lot of money!

BTW, had you considered giving him a bell without a clapper?!

hehe - I hadn't thought about a bell without the clapper.

When I was out today I also picked up a whistle - didn't think that was too good an idea either - got a mental image on where the nurses might insert the whistle haha

He already got kicked out of one room this morning - his language was a little colourful when they moved him!
