Membership site without Paypal?

How can you run a membership site without Paypal? I had heard Wishlist is good, but not sure if you have to use Paypal to receive money using that. Anyone know?

Yes, I would use Clickbank or a regular merchant account. I've heard too many horror stories involving membership sites and paypal.

Though Paypal is the big kid around the block, there are other payment providers you can use for a membership websites.

I've successfully used 2checkout on a membership website. In fact such a set up is a good doomsday scenario option if Paypal were to limit someone's account all of a sudden. That way you can fall back on to your alternate setup until you get Paypal sorted out.

PayPal is a serious pain when it comes to recurring billing (I've run a subscription site using PayPal for several years). Their system is horrible and they randomly cancel people's subscriptions for no reason.

Go with a real merchant account. You'll save yourself lots of headaches trying to deal with PayPal plus you'll probably save in fees as well. Take a look at Braintree, Samurai, and Stripe. All three companies have excellent APIs so it shouldn't cost too much to hire someone to build a system for you, or you may be able to find software that integrates with them.

If you think you're membership site will be around for a while, the best thing you can have is control over your member's payments. I started off using PayPal and now even though I've got a merchant account, I've still got half my members using PayPal. Do it right the first time and it will be much easier later on.

Use Wishlist Member plugin. In my opinion the best Membership site plugin out there. Im a little biased as i did the SEO for them but i love it and Paypal is just one payment option within the plugin.

Take a look at this WSO:http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...ml#post6327463

It was recommended to me by another Warrior this morning and I've just spent some time reading about it. I shall definitely purchase today before the 86+% reduced WSO prices expire.

From what I'm reading, it manages subscriptions with PayPal, plus alternative payment options too.

PayPal is a bit of a pain when it comes to subscriptions. Additionally, in order to accept a subscription, generally PayPal forces them to add a credit card, so if someone's going to pay for a subscription, they can already pay for it without PayPal. ClickBank is a decent choice + it lets you get affiliates pretty easily.

Can I ask why you don't want to use Paypal? You didn't say and no one else has asked. I've used them for years on my membership sites and have had no problems. Of course, most of my sites are sold through WarriorPlus which makes it A LOT easier to setup and manage.

I would use Clickbank if you're looking for something different though.

2CO or Google Checkout is the answer you seek. 2CO accepts payment from Paypal and Credit cards.
I am a user of 2CO too and very happy with them.

You could use Wishlist and integrate with 2co, clickbank, and a few other sources so you are not just limited to PayPal with Wishlist which is awesome
