What is the best way in your opinion to learn

I'm wanting to know which resources are the best to learn internet marketing from? Last year, I thought I'd try again to learn internet marketing, I spent probably close to $1000 between July and like March. I purchased Matt Carter's Rapid Profit Formula which cost me $77, but asked for a refund on that, was a member of Niche Profit Classroom, wealthy affiliate and purchased a couple other things with upsells too. But really, I'm not sure of how I should go about learning internet marketing. I'm wanting to focus on affiliate marketing. Also with the many changes Google has been making, how is it impacting your businesses? I've been trying to find a work at home job too.

Well reading around on here is a good start. Just concentrate on a specific strategy and attempt it. I think hands on learning definitely works out better than just reading others e-products. Once you find something working for you, then you can spend money on products that'll help you grow your business. Just reading around on here should give you plenty of information on ways to get started.

like the image suggest you want to pick one thing, again I say one thing and learn just that. For example, if it's list building then just buy 1 course not 2 or 3 but just 1 course on list building and follow that to a T. The reason I say one course is that everyone has their own way of doing things so you don't want to get confused. Just make sure the product creator is known to have a good reputation for delivering good products. hope that helps

Pull out your credit card and spend money on things that have a chance of making you bank (buy traffic to promote affiliate offers).

You can choose PPV, PPC, SEO, media buys, list building and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting to mention.

Spend money trying to turn those traffic sources into profitable investments and then scale up.

    1. Just grab a WSO about Affiliate Marketing, that rewarded WSO of the Day or Best-seller status
    2. Read it in just 2-3 hours
    3. Start implement the methods in the same day

Just start doing something... Learning by doing.

Another good source to start learn about Affiliate Marketing: Web Marketing for Dummies book. The book is comprehensive so it will be a great start to learn about Affiliate Marketing.

Trial and error. Gotta get out there and make some mistakes. Eventually, your hard work will pay off. Start something and stick with it. Once you make your first profits, you'll be hooked. And if you still aren't seeing success? Find a mentor with a rock-solid reputation.

The biggest weaknesses I have are finding a niche, determining competition for keywords, writing the articles as well as SEO. For me, it's hard to stay focused and I do have short term memory. Sometimes I may need to read something several times before I go out and do it. And when I need help on something, even if it's something that I bought from someone, it can be hard to get that help I need. I think for now I'll just look on here and see what people are doing. If I can help it, I'm gonna try and not buy any products unless it's something highly recommended and that the person can help me when I need assistance. And of course, google keeps changing their game plan and sometimes it makes me think that they are doing what they can to put internet marketers out of business. Also in the past, I've tried to outsource all of the above except for finding the niche and determining if it's something worth doing. Big mistake there.

I say start small. Think of something that you are interested in just because....it's interesting. Don't worry about profits, don't sit and dream about millions of dollars shooting out of your disc drive bay. Just think of what your interested in, get a cheap domain and hosting and just build a site.

Spend some time creating content, learn more about your chosen subject. Along the way you will learn loads about your visitors, what they want, which pages they click the most etc etc. What you will find is that you can create your own content and get yourself some natural free traffic based off just simply interest. Paid traffic and shortcuts aren't always the best option, especially for beginners. And for the love of all things don't quit your dayjob in hopes of being an internet millionaire. Take it slow and learn by doing without all the pressure of making as much money as you can. Just do it to get something out there that people who share your interest might like. Then, once you have some steady traffic and are more confident, look for some affiliate links, banners and advertising that relates. Don't overdo it and test your little heart out all along the way.

In my opinion, when it comes to internet marketing you really need to learn to crawl before you walk. Completely the opposite of nearly every product pertaining to the subject but I am sure you can think of why that is right?

          Hi pcdoctor,

          I see your situation.

People meet a lot of different information on the internet. You wrote, you've purchased things here and there. To filter out what you need may be difficult, if you haven't a method for learning whatever you're interested in.

You are different, just like everybody else. Your learning habits and styles are your specialties. So, you need to understand from your previous learning experience, how you learn best. You also need to know, verbally or visually you learn the more: applying text, audio, video, etc.

Someone can learn better by participating in a group discussion. This way you can solidify your newly acquired knowledge by asking questions and sharing your newly learned knowledge and related experience with others. You know the saying: more eyes see more.

One of the best ways to improve your learning, is implementing your fresh skill into practice. Let me to suppose, your problem lies therein. To learn internet marketing, WF is a good resource. You just need to follow some simple rules.

          * Stop to buying every new shiny product - you just spend your money and mess yourself.

          * You said, you are willing to do affiliate marketing. As I see, you've purchased related materials already. Choose only ONE from the many and start study it thoroughly. This way you don't confuse yourself. If you don't understand something, then ask. Use the search function of WF. I can assure you will find an adequate answer.

          * Don't rush here and there in your learning. Perform one task at a time. By switching from one part to another, your learning slows down, become less efficient. It's easy to make mistakes in such a situation. (Anyway, smart one can learn from mistakes, yet at the beginning of learning, too.)

          * Be organized and manage your time. Begin your endeavour by focusing your attention on the current task and continue learning for a specified time - as your schedule allows. Include short breaks in every hour of your learning, regularly. Measure your progress.

          * Create distraction-free and organized environment for your learning. Disturbances impair the efficiency of learning, just like the messy clutter on your desk. Sort all your materials to be acquired in order, as they build on each other. Perhaps you know, incoordination is usually the case. (And, the disorder in our environment is not conducive to the order of our minds.

          * Forget procastination. That is one of your fiercest enemies. What you've learned, PUT IT INTO PRACTICE. Learn by doing. Don't forget about what you want to achieve with your studies, how you want to achieve your goals. Do it NOW! If you don't practice what you've learned you don't make any money.

          * Do you mistakes? No problem. I've achieved my goals by trial and error. You also CAN. Learn from your past errors, how you can avoid them in the future. By evaluating your business steps you'll be able to survive and grow, regardless of what the big G is doing.

          * Outsourcing can be a way to achieve progress, if you do it properly. But, because of the many pitfalls, I do not recommend this for uncertain beginners.

          * My last point, is 'if alone isn't going, ask help'. Find a mentor. There are quite a few marketer here, who can be your help. Just ask.

          Many successes,

          Sandor

              Jennifer, thank you.

But I've to say, I'm just another member here, as others. I just didn't forget the period when I first dropped into the establishing of an independent business. And I also see, how many people have started something without knowledge.

Concerning heart: to do somenthing is only worthwhile, if you give your heart into. Teaching without your heart doesn't get to your destination. And the half-hearted work doesn't take a reward.

As a former business owner, I always tried to learn. Besides the Dale Carnegie Business Trainings, I continuously learned in the practice. This habit still remained. And I share my small knowledge with others.

These, and Attracting Traffic, are probably the most important 'technical' factors you have to learn. So I agree with you here.

For me, it's hard to stay focused and I do have short term memory. Sometimes I may need to read something several times before I go out and do it. And when I need help on something, even if it's something that I bought from someone, it can be hard to get that help I need.
I've got the memory span of a limp carrot! For a long time, I tried to memorise all these new terms and phrases. Then I decided to write notes!!!! I now have a small notebook for each of the main elements, and a big whiteboard for URLs, phone numbers etc. It helps a LOT!!

I think for now I'll just look on here and see what people are doing.

If I can help it, I'm gonna try and not buy any products unless it's something highly recommended and that the person can help me when I need assistance.
Due Diligence. Easier said than done.
Of course, there ARE several trusted people who really do sell excellent products - WITH a support system in case of difficulty. I know some here in the UK whom I trust to give me value for money; and help when I need it. They don't charge an arm and a leg either. Very often, you can find their products listed as cut price WSOs. I've bought several, and always make progress with each one; and I'm working on a very limited budget.

I've tried to outsource all of the above except for finding the niche and determining if it's something worth doing. Big mistake there.
Unless you spend loads, this can be a great way to dispose of your disposable income. Cut out the middle man, and send it to me. I take Paypal.

What ever you do, don't give up.

Three years ago my (now ex) wife said I was wasting my time working every night on my Macs. Then, one year in, I made my first $7.00. Excited? Damn right I was. It told me at least, that someone knew I was here, and bought something. $7 is better than $0.

One month later, I made $60.00! Now we're talking.

I can nowbe (almost) sure of a regular income of $200 - $800 per month - profit. That represents approx. $5000+ p.a., and climbing.

My target is $3000 per month plus by this time next year, but I hope to have gathered enough new knowledge by then, that it's a lot more.

I'll be quite happy when I get to $70-80,000 pa PROFIT.

The key is to be patient, allow for mistakes; but take pride in your achievements.

        Just keep persevering.

        Hi pcdoctor,

It appears to me that that you are finding it hard to focus on things and you are very hesitant to venture into something that someday may no longer work. I hope you are not over-thinking & complicating things, and you should remember that this is a business and it will involve some kind of risk on your end -- be it money or time spent.

If you want a business model that doesn't rely on SEO and constant algorithm slaps from Google, I would suggest you consider List building. It's a very stable business model and very newbie friendly.

I often receive emails from many successful marketers who constantly preach List building as a very profitable business model. You know what, I totally ignored those for the longest time. It is just now that I understand the wisdom behind those claims.

So my suggestion is try and have a look, it might be the one you are looking for. And before I forgot, after choosing which way to go, work like hell until it gets profitable. There's no use in jumping from one thing to another, it won't do you any good. Trust me.

        Good Luck,
        Romi

    The BEST way to learn?

Model the successful people in whatever
they do. If you can't do it, seek them as a
    mentor.

People who try by themselves, end up
losing huge time and effort - when you
    can easily leverage knowledge and
    experience from an existing expert.

6 years of marketing has told me
that, and no one else needs to suffer.

I probably have a different approach than most but when I want to learn something, I dive right in an read all the free introductory information I could find... but that only takes you so far, you need to spend money and even more than money, you need to spend time. Education and knowledge is valuable and when you buy a product, the information could only take you so far. Really valuable information comes with a price, you could try figuring things out on your own or you could pay to learn from someone else.

Of course you should do your due dilligence when buying information and I've always found the best way to deal with buying information products is to guage whether the promotion is a "blind" promotion or a tangible transparent one. Usually, "blind" promotions (one where you have no idea what you're buying at the time of purchase except that it's supposed to do some really cool stuff), I've found are worthless.

The best information I've bought was always promoted in an extremely transparent way, it said it was going to do so and so and thats what the guarantee was on and that's what it did. Also, a clear flag that a product is worthless is if the product owner makes claims but isn't using their own advice to make profits. An example would be buying a youtube marketing course from someone who doesn't have any videos on youtube themselves.

Another thing I've found was when you want to learn something - go directly to the source. An example is copywriting, if you wanted to learn copywriting, I wouldn't recommend learning from anyone other than the best in class of AAA copywriters, even if they're dead.

My last piece of advice would be - don't reinvent the wheel, if you see lots of people doing something and they're profitable, you should go as far as copying their exact style and method and finding out for yourself (paying to do it yourself) and seeing whether it's profitable or not. Almost always, if someone is spending a significant amount of time and money doing something and their promotion has legs, then it could be duplicated and with experience could even be improved on.

    Dive in.

Before you start jumping to SEO, I'd recommend you read more about the latest Google algorithm change. It has affected me and my income, but thankfully I was able to recover from it

I think newbies jumping straight to SEO will be shocked with the latest change that Google did.

I started to learn internet marketing as an affiliate, using SEO as a primary traffic generation method. It took me quite a while to get good at it.

However, you need to know that SEO is only ONE way to generate traffic. SEO is not free. It will cost you time.

Other traffic generation method are faster but they do require the cash investment. For example: solo ads, banner, ppv, etc. are all good traffic generation method that requires little cash.

Hope this helps you choose your path.

    Best of luck,
    Andrew

All you need to do is read the surplus of information that is given to you here, and other similar forums and blogs. There is more than enough FREE information to get started on your way. The best way to learn internet marketing is by jumping into it and giving it the 'old college try'. The most I learned in the smallest amount of time was when I began to create my own campaigns, and when I began to create my own websites. You can theorize all you'd like about what you think would work, or what other people say work, but you won't know for sure (or won't learn from it) until you execute.

I think the best way for you to learn is whatever works the best for you. Honestly, some people learn well on their own simply reading things like ebooks and the WF, other people learn better by watching videos, and other people simply have to have a coach to help them in this business.

But really, I'm not sure of how I should go about learning internet marketing. I'm wanting to focus on affiliate marketing. Also with the many changes Google has been making, how is it impacting your businesses? I've been trying to find a work at home job too.
Pick a business model and stick with it. There are multiple ways to go about affiliate marketing i.e. ranking affiliate sites, listbuilding, etc.

Pick a business model. Understand the big picture. Then stick with it and make it work. Seek out mentor's and resources that are relevant to only your business model.

Ex. If you're focused on mastering SEO and ranking affiliate sites then don't go getting the product launch about Facebook PPC.

You can get that later after you got the SEO down.

Somewhat off topic :p but I thought that was important to mention because changing directions all the time had me running in circles for a while until I just stuck with one thing.

I'm thinking about purchasing the empower network membership and writing blogs using their service. They claim that they will do all the setting up for you as long as you are willing to do your part.

I would choose a business model that is proven to work and stick with that.

Learn the skills you need to make it would, make sure you thoroughly understand them, and implement them until you see the level of success you are looking for.

Once you have chosen your business model, make a list of everything you need to learn to get your business up and running and nothing else.

Once everything has been completed, make a new list with everything you must do to reach your next "plateau" of success.

Once you've made a decision and have thoroughly mapped out the journey to reach the success you want, things become a lot easier.

When you start to see yourself making progress (you'll be able to see this by the amount of steps you have crossed off your list), your business will explode as a result of your newfound drive.

The best way to learn is to just jump in with two feet. I know it sounds difficult, and it is, but you have to make your own mistakes in order to learn what will work for YOU specifically. Some methods might work for one affiliate niche or target but not for another. Get your feet wet by focusing on one niche and jump in. Don't stress yourself out if it takes awhile for things to start happening for you. Just test and re-test a few methods and keep track of your results.

Affiliate marketing is not an easy game but there is plenty of wonderfully useful information here on this forum to help you get a jump up on other newbies. Again, just focus on one niche and build from there, learn as you go.

Take a look at the guide in my sig. It's got a ton of great resources to get you started out. I always recommend people start out with Micro Niche Sites. They will give you a very good overview of IM and SEO before you move on to bigger projects.

In my opinion it's to do things yourself, even if you make mistakes. All training is useless unless you put it into practice.
