Amazon.... What do you do?

I was wondering what most of you do for conversions. Do you send the users to the product page, or do you send them to the check out?

For example, you have an article on a product. They click the link/button buy it. You send them to either the product review page or right to, "Add to Cart". I know for the Add to Cart option, it gives you credit on that item for 90 days. I feel if I send them to Add to cart. I am pushing them to buy and people wont like it.

I have also seen, where the webpage forces you a click through on a product before leaving the page! Is that even aloud?

it depends on the content of the website..

If your content is very good and well written about the product and you are sure that your visitor needs all the information they want than you can send them to the check out page of amazon.

if your content is just a normal review content where it does not explain all the information about the product than you need to send the product so they can and read all the information about the product before they make any buying decision.

As you have to test with couple of website, than you can finally see what works for you.. I hope this helps..

One of the better techniques is educating the visitor about the product right on your own page, providing them all the information they need about the product in a manner which gets them all excited to buy the product and then without wasting many more clicks, get them to convert on the checkout page.

I do very well as an Amazon affiliate. Virtually all of my sites are presented as e-commerce sites using the Ultimate Product Review System so I do use the Add-to-Cart. However, I also use regular affiliate links to the product page as well.

Do I need a Theme, with add to cart integrated? I cant find anything on Amazon, with direct linking to the check out.

I really just need to direct link it from my, "Buy" buttons. If its a Wordpress Plugin situation. What Plugin do you recommend using an Add to Cart option, that I can use with my buttons?

I like talking about the product on my own website to get the person interested and then sending them to the checkout page

OK! Awesome, thank you for the feedback!

I will now start sending my visitors to the check out page. I feel my content is fresh, unique, and over 1000 words. I do believe, I explain everything about the products.

    Catch you later!

Amazon offers an advanced "link" which is actually the buy button that allows visitors to add products right to their cart from your site. It's on their AWS site. I built it into my reviews system so I don't have to mess around with code.

In your experience, how much difference does it make to the conversion rate using add-to-cart buttons on your site compared to using standard links?

To be honest, since most of my sites use a mix, I've never differentiated. For all I know, the add-to-cart could be useless

I sell Amazon products through email promotions, and the feedback I got from my subscribers years ago was they generally seemed to resent being sent to the check-out page. Perhaps it may be perceived as being pushy.

The best conversions appear to be sending to the product page. Even though it's only a 24 hour cookie, you will almost always benefit from Amazon's powerful product suggestion system and additional product sales.

I had no idea you could send them straight to the cart. I guess it depends if you have set them up with the decision to buy or the decision to find out more. I send them to find out more from Squidoo. I am just setting up niche sites now am glad I came across this thread.

Do you find they buy less incidental extra items if you send them straight to the cart?

I create Amazon Store sites that give information on the Amazon product. I offer the options of Add-to-Cart and I link the product directly to the product page for amazon. I also use a plug-in that helps me create product reviews for top selling products at Amazon.

I feel that there is no right or wrong for this.
If you sent them to "Add to Cart", they are cookied for 90 days but then they do not have an opportunity to review other products in Amazon or to shop on other unrelated products that you'll be credited for that sale as well..
