If Your Eye Was Bigger Than Your Brain

Did you know an ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain?

If only humans were as lucky we'd all be filthy rich! Because even though your brain helps you kick your mojo into creativity on full blast, your eyes could save you lots of money, lots of lost effort, and years of lost time.

My point is this... your eyes tell you, humans walk on their two feet. But somewhere out there in the world of craziness, there's someone trying to be "innovative" and change all of that... just because their brain is out of control!

The same thing happens in marketing all of the time. People see (with their own eyes) successful advertising, successful promotions, successful sales funnels, successful sales letters, and boat loads of success all around them... but their brain somehow convinces them to NOT follow down the same path of those who ran successful promotions... and INSTEAD think of some "unique" and totally "ground-breaking" method that would somehow make them more profitable than those who already are. To those people I say 1 thing...

Your Brain Is the Reason You're Poor!
Use Your Brain LESS
And Your Eyes More

I received an interesting email today from one of my list members that read

"You marked my return email as spam...........!!!! "

Followed by their prompt resignation from my list. Thinking I screwed up somehow, because on many occasions I do, I looked through my inbox to see which message they were talking about.

I found it! Eureka!

And then I realized that I didn't screw up, their message WAS SPAM. The S.O.B. actually opted me into their list without my knowledge and sent me an automated message. They opted into my list (a double optin list) thinking they could use it to gain me as a subscriber to their own list by sending a covert "reply" as some sort of "consented single optin".

In essence, he only wanted to be subscribed to my list IF I was subscribed to their list and we could both email each other back and forth like one big list subscribing orgy regardless of what industries and markets we were in... because we all know how great we feel having a huge email list just full of people who don't give a rats rear end about what you're even talking about... it just makes us feel GOOD.

Boy was I lucky they unsubscribed...

Within a week I'd be getting emails saying "You didn't open my email..........!!!!!!!!" Or "You didn't click the link in my message............!!!!!!"

This is a case of trying to be "innovative" gone terribly wrong. Now I know you're not using this method of forcefully stuffing new subscribers into your list, because warriors aren't stupid, and this is one hell of a stupid technique if I ever saw one.

Ok that's enough for now, I just wanted to give a piece of advice to my fellow warriors and also highlight the importance of using your EYES and keeping your BRAIN under control in order to avoid sabotaging your own success.

P.S. If the individual mentioned in this post is a Warrior, I'd like to gracefully say #$%# You!

What remarkably stupid yet "innovative" technique has someone tried using on you? I'd be interested in seeing just how much stupidity is out there.

    What are you saying man?

Some guys here that keep searching for the SHINY BUTTON THAT BRINGS MONEY should actually use more their brain and not their eyes!
People get tricked every day when they see a nice shiny awesome sales page and they spend money for information that probably they don't need and that they will never use but they spend money because ''seems good'' or ''it looks good even if I don't need that''.

I don't agree with what you said and about the guy who sent you that email, well that's because people don't use their brain and they don't know that spam is considered illegal in these states: Email spam legislation by country - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I can't even begin to tell you how many of my clients or students have added me to their list. Then send stupid spam emails from the email address they normally contact me with.

It's really no wonder why some people never make money. These are the same people who call us scammers and say IM doesn't work

      Hi Nicholas,

My experience is similar to yours. I started to use the email as a contact device in 2001. I haven't the foggiest idea how many people know one of my email address.

But I remember some of them. I'm not on the fret longer about their spam, but laugh and delete them one-touch. Of course, I don't do business with spammers.

Once they get bored and stop.

      Best,

      Sandor

When will people begin to understand that these "spammy" techniques just don't work - PERIOD. In fact they are downright counter productive.
I have a very real personal example of this (for obvious reasons I can not name names).
I took some personal coaching last year from two "respected" internet marketrs who were working as a team for the duration of the course. The content was great and I got a lot out of it - thanks guys.
Now comes the problem, I am obviously on the list of both these guys. One continues to send me useful information from time to time, I have bought though his link and he has made his commission on the sale - that's fair. I continue to respect him and we have a good relationship.
Marketer number 2 however has resorted to sending me what I can only describe as "crap" for months now. I will never buy from him as he is adding zero value and, in fact, my respect for him has dwindled to almost zero. BTW I deliberately stay on his list just to be amazed at the junk he keeps sending me...
Moral of the story is clear - deliver value and you will succeed. Resort to spammy, valueless tactics and you WILL get your just rewards.
    Cheers

      Hi Les,

I'm afraid this thing is constantly replenished. Think about it: more and more people try their luck to earn livelyhood on the net everyday. They want to earn some money as soon as possible. They are falling in the trap: 'start today, you can make $10.000 tomorrow'.

Of course, I don't claim that this isn't possible. It's possible if adequate knowledge, funds, devices and connections are available to the person. But the high percentage of beginners start without these elements.

So, they are operating with purchased lists. The result is shown.

      All the best,

      Sandor

Hey Sandor - very good point and true of course. Unfortunately, you and I know the truth is quite different. It is such a shame that many people (often rather desperate) grab at the shiny object when a more solid and consistent approach based on proven principles would yield better and more sustainable results.

A quick buck will always remain just that - a quick buck.

        Cheers
