Note - Videos Below on How to Install... I couldn't resist with all the offline ____ gold as it is hot and a great way to earn money with our knowledge! ![]() So just wanted to share with everyone a quick Twitter tip to your offline clients. Heck, it just brought in a quick $1,000 check from an offline client. For one of my new (just signed him up today!) offline clients, he is a bit in the public eye and yet didn't have his name branded yet online. 1. told him to register his name, firstnamelastname.com and forward the dns servers to my host 2. then uploaded wordpress with all the sexy seo plugins and a nice theme he liked with the option of getting a 'custom' graphic header for $100 3. then asked him if he know about Twitter...he said he has recently been hearing lots about it - heck - even katie Couric is on it and Joel Comm's recent big marketing push on his great book "twitter power" I just happened to have on my desk when he and I met. 4. Then had him 'claim his name' on Twitter - he loved it - and here is the kicker for helping with the offline goldmine - the integration between his personal blog and his Twitter - he was amazed and going to refer plenty of his business friends! Here is how easy it was (can't believe I haven't done this yet for my own blog!) Step 1 - downloaded the twitter wordpress plugin - it is FREE - Alex Kings Twitter Tools 1.6 - WordPress › Twitter Tools WordPress Plugins is the download link uploaded via FTP to the plugin directory - the twitter.php file in twitter tools 1.6 Step 2 - activated the plugin once logged in as admin on the WP blog Step 3 - went to 'widgets' on the WP theme and added the new 'twiiter tools' widget to the sidebar Step 4 - went to the twitter tools set up in menu path and while on that one page easy configuration, asked him if he would like each tweets to be individual blog posts, or just his daily tweets to one blog post, or the entire weeks tweets to a blog post...then asked if he wanted any new blog posts to then be micro-blogged on his Twitter account.... ... if you can picture yourself now as the offline consultant walking someong thru these questions, you can imagine how much of an authority status you've just put yourself in with your client...the referrals, the additional business...e.g. how about a custom twitter background to match your blog etc. Just wanted to share that with all of you fellow warriors as I seriously did not know how easy it was to install the Twitter tool 1.6 and how slick it is! Here is the Part 1 Video - of How to Install the Twitter plugin Part II |

Thanks for the reminder that lots of people still don't know this. With things like Twitter I just integrate the plugins with my other activities and then forget about them as they're plugged-in to my system, so whenever I setup a new blog it always links to a twitter account. I guess non-techy people not knowledgeable of IM and these tools can find it really clever. |

Twitter really is all over the place in the news. For people to think "wow, I could be like X and have my own Twitter thing", it sounds pretty darn cool, especially if their business is brandable. Great contribution! Matt |

We truly forget the non-techy offline clients - and how they think of what is clever. ..I just met this morning with another prospect - showed him what I did yesterday for another client and how they can brand their company and themselves this way integrating to their website (for marketing, I often call the blog setup their 'website' as some folks still think the word 'blog' is as powerful as 'website' )... and right away he then called in his CEO/owner of the company to show him as well - so it is interesting how they get so excited!

by default - it goes to the tinyurl site and shortens it there - you can 'set' what site to use for shortening the url ** So when you do a blog post..it shows up in your twitter: New Blog Post: ___your blog post title___ tinyurl ** Hope that helped! Cheers, Maria Gudelis

Twitter is a great tool. People say it's only good for non buyers, but as twitter expands, more and more people are using twitter to search for products, or at least info on products. I know I do! Good info! |

Additionally -for existing clients - I offer up to 'get it set up for them' with a custom background for $150 - sort of a 'bonus' to them for being my client. Another way to monetize Twitter - when I am networking at chamber and local small business events - I and my husband have our blackberry going - then twitterberry the event, my hubby even takes a picture with our cel camera phone of me and that person - who we met- immediately through twitterberry twitter it - telling them "YOU just got Twittered!" - and show them what we are doing - It is another conversation opener where they then ask about social media and online marketing, how to use if for their business and it usually gets a further one on one appointment with the client. I just started doing that only in that last 7 days and absolutely love it - a great way to get a relationship going with a prospect as well!

Hi Chris -that depends on the type of business/ what social media sites / branding they need - the main basics are 1. Twitter set up - custom twitter background with proper 'call to action' in it to drive traffic/collect list 2. Branded Youtube background and channel - matching graphics of twitter background 3. Videos done for the client - 'reality style videos' - and submitted not only to youtube buy 20 plus other sharing sites I have in my traffic geyser acct. 4. One Press Release - and syndicated out 5. Syndication to major RSS directories of client's social media RSS feed 6. Depending on number of videos above, if not as many - a SEO optimized wp blog as well - Hope that helps! |

Hi Maria, This is an awesome thread ![]() What kinds of questions or responses have you seen from people when you bring up twitter? I have not actually mentioned twitter to my clients because basically I was under the impression it was not really a business tool, aside from product launch information. I have to admit I have not mastered Twitter yet. I have a good follower base,.. but I have never really tried to drive traffic with it. I assume you would also set up a businesses name on twitter correct? |

Funny you asked that... ....as just yesterday one of my offline clients responded to my email "you need to get on Twitter - call me and I'll explain on the phone and I'll help you with it" (note - keep in mind this is an 'existing offline client- I'd never send that short email note to a 'prospect')... He asked - in reply - word for word: "I'll grab twitter once you explain it to me." I replied back: " Hi _client first name, Twitter is a free social media site – essentially a ‘micro blogging’ platform That has increased in popularity in last few months. Kinda the ‘new facebook’ if you will. I like it for branding and SEO purposes – the linking back to your site/blog etc. Some folks on it – Twitter.com/stevecase Twitter.com/richardbranson Twitter / guykawasaki and a lot more here is mine for instance Twitter / mariagudelis rudy just started: Twitter / rudys And others Talk to you tonight after 5! *** Note: I knew some of the people he 'digs' so that is why I mentioned the above twitter ids of Guy Kawasaki, Steve Case and Richard Branson to 'customize' my message to his personality/interests. *** Hope that helped Chris - I actually find mentioning twitter to existing clients and prospects very helpful - It really is funny - they get 'twitter ' right away and more excited about it than 'SEO' or 'Google Analytics" which in my opinion- is a must do for any business! Quote:
1. branding their name - so many people underestimate the power of branding your name online - 2. more personal - Twitter is a social type of feel - so using your personal name makes more sense than your business name - have a 'custom twitter background' that goes back to their business website or have their biz logo on it etc... In this day and age when lots of us have more than one business, stream of income - the one thing stays the same - your name. that way if they start a new business or join another company - the Twitter 'asset' they created is still valid and they just change their twitter background or website link on their profile (unless you get married like me and the question happens - what name to use since the maiden name is branded! )3. You could tell them to create a 'business name' Twitter account as a 2nd account and only use if for 'specials' or announcements. HOpe that helps! Cheers, Maria Gudelis
