What Happened To The Optimizepress Team?

Hello Warriors,

Do you guys know what happened to the optimizepress theme team? They dont update facebook, twitter. Their product hasnt had an update for over a year. The forum was taken down.

What's happening?

I already own OP, but I fear it maybe outdated. Thinking of going with Premise plugin. But I do not see clickbank support mentioned.

Thank you.

Stranger, the update notification was not shown on the dashboard. But I have re-installed and everything works fine now. Do you know if they maintain a changelog or something?

Hi, James from OptimizePress here. I can assure you we're still around and still supporting OptimizePress. We took down the forum as we restructured the support system to use our helpdesk and knowledgebase at http://www.optimizepress.com/support

I'm sorry you didn't get notified about the update - we did send out a notification to our members list.

As for Twitter and Facebook - we will be working on engaging more with our customers on those platforms soon.

We're actually working on a major new version of OptimizePress which will be launching later this year - can't disclose too much yet but this will be a brand new product - our existing customers will get a discount on the upgrade when we launch.

They say will be available in August.

          How about like this:

          Buy version 1.
          Play with it.
When version 2 is launched, ask for 30 days money back (for version 1)
          and Buy version 2

I don't think they'd see it that way. After all, it's just software; it's not like they're taking a loss if you decide to return their software. It really amounts to an upsell.

Just make sure that you mark you calendar so you return it before the 30-day mark.

My bigger concern would be putting in all those hours getting your site to look just the way you want it, and then basically chucking all that work out the window to go with the newer version.

The update sounds interesting. OP has a lot of capability, although I think the back end could be more intuitive and those drop-down menus are gigantic so hopefully the new design options will make it easy to change that.

I'm curious to see what comes out, but I have to say I'm a little disappointed that, as a buyer of OP (and the multi-site license at that) I'd be required to pay for the upgrade.

Even though James said OP was basically rebuilt, it's still a new version of an existing product (even James himself called it V2 above, not a new product name). It's been over a year since I've bought so maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but I thought we were entitled to lifetime updates. Whether those updates are substantial shouldn't affect that IMHO.

                @Cheech:

do they support multisite ? such as support WP Empire builder ?

you better to check again about the lifetime updates. I hope they keep the promise

I haven't used the Empire Builder plugin so maybe someone else could speak to that. Or try sending a pre-sales query to James and i'm sure they'll let you know. I wouldn't be surprised if it worked because OP is designed to support a wide variety of situations (I hope I didn't sound like I was knocking it in my previous post, I like OP and I'd just like to keep having access to the updates).

Anyway by multisite I meant that I paid for the option. I don't remember the prices because I bought over a year ago, but I believe there were options for a single-site licence, multi-site license, and developer's license.

Unless I had a client who absolutely, positively had to have a new OP site delivered overnight, I'd sure wait for the new version. Given that it sounds like v2.0 is going to be a complete overhaul, and is likely to be out in 4-6 weeks (maybe sooner) I sure don't see the gain in buying OP v1.

It already sounds like you won't be able to migrate an existing site over to the new version (at least not initially ... maybe they'll come up with a way to do that later). So I'd be focusing on the bigger picture of what I'd want your new site to do, then be ready to hit the ground running when the new version comes out.

From everything James Dyson has said, and also from what I've heard from queries I've put into their support desk, they're doing their best to do v2.0 really, really well right from the get-go.

Personally, I'm "chompin' at the bit" to get it. I'm even holding off a site or two just so I can plunge in with v2.0. But I appreciate they're taking their time with the end goal of "doing it right".

          Anyway, let's hope that's what we'll get. ;-)

  • James,

Is the new product going to replace OptimizePress?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6392172].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author James Dyson
We're still in development but probably around August 2012. I don't want to promise dates yet as it's more important to me that the product is fully ready and not rushed out for the launch.

This new product will be the replacement for OptimizePress - OP1 will be taken off the market and this will be our new lead product. We're completely redeveloping the brand and the product so it's more like a complete platform for your marketing sites and blogs.

We will of course still provide support for buyers of the current OP for 6-12 months after we close V1 - we know that some people may not want to change their sites and may not want to buy the new version (and that's totally fine).

I think for the majority of users though, with all the new stuff we've built into V2, most people will want to upgrade their sites or rebuild them with V2.

It's important to state that this is a completely new framework and new product (built from the ground up) so this will be a new product and not a free upgrade - but we will be offering a discount for existing members to upgrade.

There will also be some functionality in V1 that will not directly transfer over to V2 (purely because of the new pagebuilding system we've created in V2) but we're confident that people will be able to rebuild their sites using V2 very easily (and we're also working on some potential migration apps to help with this although these may not be ready at launch stage).

I'll share more with you guys as soon as I can! Thanks for your support for the last 18 months with OP1!

you got that right, We have one optimize press site bringing in over 9k per month. (we show how to do this, in our sig for FREE) And their team and staff have been very good to us in the last 12 months. Hardly any problems, and if there were any, they were fixed up straight away.

Now is August. is there any good news ? when new version will be ready ?

      My suggestions is :
      1. Make it easy to build website for company which is not for IM only, and look professional/ not look like blog.
      2. Include some theme which look professional and can be customized later for many use. (not only IM)
      3. Support WP Empire builder
      4. it is Great if you can add drag and drop functions

      Other later

    Hi James!

Thanks for this update, I am actually considering purchasing OP right now. Would you suggest waiting until the new version comes out?

Are there any advantages to the original version over the new one? Can you share the new price?

    Much appreciated!

We're still at least a few months off being ready to launch the new platform, so we haven't yet decided on the full pricing structure, but it will be higher than the current price.

There are too many new features to explain right now - but the whole system has been rebuilt so there are definately advantages to the new system - we'll release more information on this closer to launch.

If you have a site or funnel you need to build right now I would say get version 1 - we will have a discount on V2 for existing customers when it launches, but it's totally up to you

I never bought a paid premium theme. I loved optimizepress and strongly believed it would bring back the cost with just 1% improvement in the conversions.

OP theme is just the go-to theme for product owners.

What tempted me the post withe scribe was that it was a plugin instead of a theme. But their lack of clickbank support prevented me from going that route.

If there is one thing the OP lags behind in is, the blog section. It's too plain and lacks the flexibility normal blog theme frameworks provide.

I hope OP team fixes it. I also hope the following features are also added

    1. Secure downloading feature
    2. Integrated clickbank one time upsell feature (pitch plus)
    3. More theme changing flexibility for people who cant hire designers

    Thanks.

The blog system has been completely redesigned, more options, more flexibility. The reason the existing blog system isn't too comprehensive is because OptimizePress was originally focused on the sales funnel parts of the system - the blog system was added at request of our original customers - but we have put more focus onto this area in V2

Most of the other features you mentioned have also been added in V2

Is there somewhere to submit suggestions for the new V2 of OP?

    For example...

    Use Google fonts over Cufon.
Custom Sidebar Menus for membership pages
Update within the WP Update facility

Looking forward to seeing what you have in the works =)

Oh, is there a list of what is different from 1.4x and 1.5?

Also, I have a client that was thinking of buying OP, should he wait for V2?

      Hi James,

As designer doing custom mini sites exclusively for OP, I have some questions if you can take time to answer them :

      1) How it will be easy to do custom design?
      2) Can we expect a good discount for existing members?
      3) Will be there more integration with wishlist member ?

      Cheers,
      Michel

    Hi Michel

    - The system will be easier to use than before. There are more organised css classes so tweaking pages should be easier as well as using the range of new templates and layouts, so I would say if you're designing for OP sites once you know the framework you'll be able to put together some nice headers/graphics for the pages

    - There will be a discount, this is a completely new product built from the ground up so it will have a new pricetag but we will be giving a discount to existing members (we haven't finalised pricing yet)

    - The system will work with Wishlist Member, I'm not sure about "more integration" but you'll be able to use WL to protect your pages like you can with OP1

Tigerant - see my response above - it really depends on your current situation. If you have a site you are ready to build now, then waiting for OP2 could cost you money in lost sales as it's still a few months away. The new system is a completely new product and will have a higher price tag (even with the discount) so it's really up to you. We still have many many people building effective sales sites, lead gen sites and membership sites with V1, so it's still a valid solution - we're just taking things to the next level in terms of design, functionality and ease of use with V2

Good to hear it re new OP version coming, it's the world's best WP marketing theme especially for video launches. It's one of the rare gems out there that's stood the test of time and is a "must have" IM product. If you do something w/membership features, one key feature is to have multipleIP address checks to prevent password sharing, as a suggestion, and expanded "comments" features for people to post comments under videos (different styles/layouts/fonts w/o extensive css mods). Keep up the great work.

James ... You mentioned WishList support. I assume you'll maintain support for DAP also?

For those of you on the fence about OP, I'll add my $.05 on that. I've been looking for a theme that could be used for creating good looking content delivery. I was pretty stoked when I heard about people using OP for membership sites, so checked out their vids (which are awesome, btw), and decided to spring for the current version.

I've got developer's licenses for Thesis, Genesis, Premise, and I also have Canvas (by Woothemes). All I can say is that OP is probably the best theme investment I've ever made. It does everything it claims to do, and it does it well.

Sure, there are a few things I'd like to see it do better from a styling perspective, and also in simplifying the interface. But it's really, really nice just the way it is. And their tutorials are AWESOME. I'd say that WooThemes and OP have the best I've seen - makes it really easy to get up and running.

If you want to see how BAD instruction can be, get Premise or any of the Genesis stuff. There only have the most basic of instruction. It's almost like they DON'T want you using it unless you have a coding bent.

Anyway, if you have a need for what OP can do now, I'd go for v1.5. You can start wrapping your brain around all that it can do. While HOW v2.0 does things might be different, WHAT it does will likely remain very similar. And that's transferable knowledge that will help get you going on v2.0 faster.

Ummmm ... you might want to read James Dyson's comments above. All the answers are in there.

Okay James, a feature request ...

I'm especially interested in using OP for online instruction. A great feature would be having "current page" on the side nav have the righthand side of the text box (i.e.,"Lesson 2") have an arrow extending from the box. In other words, the vertical side of the box would instead be a ">".

This would be a BIG help in letting people easily know which lesson they're on.

It would, of course, also be great to have the "current lesson" box be a different color than the others.

This is great news! I was just about to order a mini site because I couldn't configure OP's sales page the way I wanted.

James ... I've been trying to create a consistent looking site using all the various templates in OptimizePress. It's definitely challenging. So here's a feature request:

Ability to have a consistent look-and-feel through all the templates. It would be awesome to be able to utilize all the different templates and - if one wanted to - be able to build a site with the same size header, same navigation, etc., through the site. There would be a continuity that runs through everything.

As it is, I'm finding myself using an installation of OP for one look and feel, and then using Woothemes Canvas and hoping that I can emulate the look-and-feel of OP in the straight information areas of the site (and also the blog area).

I hope V2.0 of Optimize Press can do all this. If so, I think you're going to have a runaway bestseller!

        James,

An additional feature request if you are still keeping track of this thread.

It would be great to see mobile responsive design implemented for OP 2.0.
It would also be nice if you could involve some features of easy video player 2.0 into OP 2.0 like analytics, ease of integration etc.

        Thank you.

I would love to see the mobile responsive design for all templates and for OP2 to have a built in SOCIAL Video Player better than EVP and have them host our video content just like SiteSales.com is already doing. I love what SiteSales offers but I don't like that its not on the WP platform therefore I can't wait to see what James comes up with next! I'm sure it will be every bit of amazing!

Will the discount factor equate to an even buy if purchase V1 now? I have options to make due for a month, if not. I'm hoping mobile/Fb responsive will be features included in 2 as well. It's my only real hesitation on getting it right now as well.

I'd also like to know if V2 will be fully responsive ... and if there's a new ETA.

    Thanks, James
