Some questions on purchasing a Site?

Hi guys, recently i have been thinking of starting my own blog site however this would not just be for my blogs (and adsense money) but also so i can sell my own ebooks directly off the site too - i have several ebooks ideas i'm working on. Of course i will wait until my first ebook is complete first before making any decisions.

1) Main question is if you think i should buy a .Org or .Com site.

I do have a wordpress.com with all the blogs there and wondered what would be best as i want to move my stuff over to my own domain. I will be gutted starting from scratch but i have only been at WP 4 months anyway. I don't know whether to go for a .Org.

2) Aside from this i thought to have my domain based after my name or corp name rather than SEO type words, i mean something like 'foxdean.com' as an example.

While that might not rank well is it a bad idea even though guys like Steven Pavlina have their sites based on their name?

3) I currently have my eyes on a doman for 8 letters which is $10 to buy the name and believe is somewhere in the region of $90-120 to host for 4 years. This sounded pretty good to me and is a .com site.

Good money? This seemed kinda good to me but i'm not sure yet.

4) i would also like to know if its possible if there are wordpress plugins so i can keep my site still looking the way it does. This also so friends can still comment on my blog so i dont lose those who are already following me

My site idea and layout would be similar to the site 'success consciousness'.com (cant post links yet).

Abit of blogging, a bit of interaction with the readers, abit of adsense and a few ebooks that can pop up in right side of the site in a separate template frame so people can buy them on any page including all sub pages. Do you think this is a good way to go? Thanks for you help.

About 17% of the top 1 million sites are using te open source Wordpress.org version of the blog engine that's slightly more versatile than the multi-user version on Wordpress.com.

Defintely a .com name is the best, I believe most would suggest a .net is the 2nd choice and .org the 3rd, there's no requirements for a site to be an organization to use a .org domain, but the name can give the impression of an authority site in some cases.

I would not make a 4 year commitment to hosting, things change you might need more bandwidth at some point, or the host might go belly up in less than 4 years.

Some recommend getting domain names from separate registrars, transferring names bundled with hosting accounts can be expensive or complicated.
