I am hoping someone can tell me what this actually means.
I received a PM from what supposedly looks like a member here but when I link the link it goes to my pms but there is not a pm there from this person.
I have pasted the entire pm below. I don't know if it is spam or what it is and am hoping somebody else will know.
I did not click the URL in it in case it is a virus.

Thanks.

Paul Meyers posted a few hours ago that a couple (I think he said 3) accounts had been hijacked today and that he'd erased a ton of spam PMs that were sent before the accounts were recovered. I wouldn't worry about it now.

You may want to forward the email to the support staff to make sure they got it all, though.

    Notify the mods...

there was a bot earlier, posting gobbledy-gook messages.

I don't remember the user name, but a good reason for them to do that would be to increase their post count to 50, so that they could PM a number of users with some scam offer.

i got the same one. it was a hijacked account. i already forwarded the mods the email with full headers ans such.

no worries, the user who's account was used to send them messages is not really the guy who sent the messages.

that user is fine and there is no need to take any further action regarding that specific user or email. it has already been dealt with.

Got the same message. I'm glad you guys are on this.
I do not really know how to read headers but it did look like it came from The Warrior Forum.

Thanks for the taking care of this.

I got it, too. But seemed suspicious so I decided to look around. Glad I did.

    Hi Laurence and Fellow Warriors,

Just in case someone sends you a link and you find it suspicious or you just want to make sure it's safe to click, use www.virustotal.com to check the safety level of any link. You may also upload any file in there so it'll be scanned by the well-known security software in the market.

Again, www.virustotal.com. Upload a file or a link to check it against any security threat. Hey, I'm not affiliated to VirusTotal.com. I was using this in my laboratory when I was working for Microsoft. I'm still using it still though.

    I hope this helps.

Just thought, I'd share this. The weird thing was it was an affiliate link to a WSO.
I am positive the WSO had nothing to do with this. I will hold on to the email if anyone wants to look at the headers.

I do not really know what to look for in the headers...

I got the same weird PM a few hours ago. It went directly to my SPAM folder. All PMs are going straight to my INBOX except for this suspicious PM.

    GUYS!

NEVER click on ANY PM link, without copying it and / or reverse short URL checking it FIRST!

Even if you are in a hurry / late for an appointment / making love / bored, just be clever and take some time to check it!!

There are LOTS of ways to protect malware/spamware/botspawned links on your PC/MAC, get some of those ways installed and make them PART of your IM life!

The more protection you have, the less chance you have of being h4cked/p4wned/0wned etc etc!

As far as the spam for "increasing your advertising space," that's discussed here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ming-here.html
