I have a great product, what would it take to get good affiliates to join my program?

Hey there, I have a good, successful product and an affiliate program with very few users. I'd love to have more people use it but I don't know how to find the right affiliates. Got any tips?

There are a couple of different ways to do this.

If you send lets say paid traffic to sell your product, then people will naturally notice it.

The other thing you can do is getting noticed by other internet marketers, if you promote their products and services.

I know at least Brad Gosse had a product on how you could rank easier in ClickBank for your category, so that affiliates can see you. That might be what you are looking for.

Proven conversions, and a professional-looking sales page with no leaks are two the main requirements, I think.

Then just after that comes a good quality product and a decent amount of commission per sale ("amount", not necessarily "percentage").

Using an affiliate network in which the affiliates aren't dependent on the vendor for their own payments helps a lot, too, of course.

In general, the thing to bear in mind is that 5% of affiliates tend to make 95% of the affiliate-referred sales (and vice-versa), so typically the biggest mistake to try to avoid is "pleasing everyone". You just need to find out what matters to that 5%, get those few essential things right, and not take too much notice of anything else.

Your wording suggests you're looking at it exactly the right way, anyway: "the right affiliates" is exactly what you need (i.e. rather than "as many affiliates as possible", which in reality tends not to work out quite as well, because it's fairly easy to please the masses and lose the pro's!).

Very helpful. I'm aware that 5% of affiliates do 95% of the sales.

Do you think good affiliates are more likely to join a program in an affiliate network than one with an in house program.

Our conversion rate is one of the best if not the best in the industry so we have no problem keeping affiliates once they give us a try.

Affiliates who don't know you, probably. (Because "potential payment worries" from an unknown vendor will put off some people). But this isn't the be all and end all, by any means, and you can compensate for it by having other good/tempting attractions.

This is a huge plus, for sure. Do you have an "affiliate page" with some affiliate testimonials including a contact email, so that intending affiliates can speak to one or two existing affiliates about how they're doing, with it? That's worth a lot. Not always easy to find existing affiliates willing to do that, but it can certainly be very worthwhile?

'Twitter and Facebook' seems like such a cliche answer. Tell me how that works out for you.

Alexa, has given you some really sound advice. I haven't had time to look at your site, but from what you said I would add just one thing and that is it depends on your niche. Some of the advice you have been given is for products like clickbank products.

In your niche, it might be the norm to have an in house affiliate system and having one that is else where might not make a massive difference.

As Alexa has said, proven conversions is key. If you can also help train your affiliates on how to make money with it, that would help.

Find the big websites/forums etc in your niche, especially the ones that are obviously collecting email addresses. Then approach those people with your product and your proven conversions.

You don't need to over complicate it any more than this. Just put together a really good affiliate package where it details what your product is all about, the conversions and how they can make money and some examples of the sort of money they can make.

No testimonials so that's a good idea. I don't know if its faux pas to post links here but this is the home page: webstarts [dot] com/affiliateHome [dot] php

I think it checks out pretty good. People can call me or email me directly from that page.

You could launch your product at Affiliate Marketplace to get more exposure to Affiliates, such as:
    1. Warriorplus
    2. JVZoo
    3. Clickbank

If you launch your product at Warriorplus, give 100% commissions, and the product is unique, a lot of affiliates will line up to promote your products.

That's pure speculation. As Alexa stated, the numbers determine the quality of the product/service. Even if the product is decent, if the market doesn't like it then it's garbage.

Sure, make a squeeze page that's purely for affiliates to opt into. Then email them details about your product and such. Or just include an opt in form on your "affiliates" page and build your affiliate list that way. If your product converts well, then they'll tell their extended network about your stuff and that will get more affiliates. Just like if you're in CB or whatever and your gravity is high, more affiliates will find you in the marketplace.

How to do that exactly? Put your affiliate page in your sig files, DM your network and other vendors you may have worked in, and even pay for traffic with PPC targeting other affiliates. That should help, and as you build your list of affiliates, you'll have people to promote your next products.
