I recently held a contest on my fanpage where people had to get their pics liked (which they would upload on my fanpage) and the one with the maximum no. of likes would be the winner. Now I noticed that there are some contestants who received more than 1k lieks in 3 hours. I know they're fake/automated.

My question is - How do they actually get those likes? Do they use automated software? Do they trick users into liking anything?

I'm not really interested in the software/bot part. Rather, I'd like to know more about how people are simply tricked into liking a fanpage or even a post.

And then, how do they get to like a certain post? Isn't it tough to get a direct "like link" to a post?

Just confused and curious to know about how this really works.

Well, first, I'm not into teaching anyone how to do it for I don't know how to do it, too! LOL!

Based on my research (only now), they create thousands of fake Facebook accounts. Then, they use a software that logs in to those accounts one-by-one. The software will trigger those accounts to like the fan page you entered into the software. Theoretically, that's how it works.

Sometimes, they also join some websites that support "FB Like Exchanges."

This was my idea too... but then, after reading some posts here in WF, i found out that it is possible with Fiver... I'm just not sure how they do it....

Depends, probably those are not fake likes, but it is quite possible likes through request on PM or in Facebook chat. Often, usually companies in India are doing this. Another quick way of fast like would be through most popular social bookmarking websites.

Just like, what has been said already you can get this done on fiverr.

Plus you maybe in breach of facebook's rules regarding contests, as you cannot use Facebook's like button as a voting mechanism for a promotion

There are people who buy FaceBook likes, if you run through freelance sites, you will see that many people are creating projects with titles like "Need 3k Likes" or "2k Youtube views in a week" etc... I don't know how people can do this, but I know that is happening. There are some people who request those likes to be from accounts from a specific country.

Thanks for answering half of the things! Now for the rest half - How are people really tricked into liking things? I've noticed that even though there may be "fake" likes generated, say from a totally different country, they still have genuine profiles. Well, at least majority of them. Which means that even genuine facebookers are tricked into liking. Anything other than some stupid script which prevails?

Most of the time this can be done with software. there are some other option as well. You will find some microworkers site, where people ask for facebook like and pay a very less amount. It happens when winers have the chance to get a good reward in winning contest. However, people do a lot of things not always within ethical boundaries.

I guess they probably have someone who supplies it to them. There's some gigs on Fiverr that run similar services. They'll have software that creates hundreds or thousands of accounts with email adresses created for the account, these will be automated too. Then they basically just run the bot and it logs into multiple accounts using proxies so Facebook doesn't know and likes it over and over on the different accounts.

You need 25 "LIKES" to reserve your NEW FB Fan Page username. I would not do anymore then that. Get your 25 likes, reserve your new FB.com/username, then walk away. A FB fan page that has 1,000+ likes and no activity looks odd.

For EXAMPLE: You now have 1,000+ Fake FB Fan Page likes. You then post content to your wall and no one clicks "LIKE" or comments under it. It just does not look right. When you have 1,000+ REAL likes, then once you comment or post on your own wall you can end up with 25 to 50+ likes on that one comment very quickly. Plus likes are seen by your REAL fans REAL FB Friends which helps a page go viral.

    Just some FREE advice.

    Cheers,

It depends on a number of things, but for something big Fiverr probably won't get the job done. More than likely a single $5 gig will come from too few IP addesses and accounts.

However, there are a few "industrial strength" blackhat Facebook likes companies...

Those likes are only good for social proof and to get the 25 likes you need to get your vanity url. I know a guy who was selling 10,000 likes for $5k. Now the buyer seemed happy but did not get any traffic? Why, because of no fan engagement.

Facebook has this thing called edge rank. They track things like the fans who actually comment on your page.

Back when i was in the nightclub business we would contact a few of the modeling agencies and tell then if they sent down a few dozen models, both sexes, and we whould have them stand out side the club for a few hours to create (social proof) then we would give them some free drinks for the work.

Here is a link about edge rank: EdgeRank Checker Hustles, Builds Tool Just Five Days After Facebook Real-Time Insights API Goes Live | TechCrunch

One more thing, if you get too many fake fans too quickly Facebook can ban you. And if you are going to buy these starter fans to get your page going make sure you use USA fans only.

It would look kind of funney if your business is in Toledo Ohio and all your fans are from India.

They are also good for winning contests, as well as they likely play a roll in Facebook's own search engine, and in some cases may even be a part of Google's algo.

Usually this is done with bots or automated software. Usually the people on fiverr do this.

When I want targeted (geographical and demographic) likes I use winacomp.com for real people.

    Hope that helps!

real human facebook fans likes are bought in large quantities from direct suppliers like fansforfb, who have the lowest price and best quality I had found so far.

it is very useful to know this:

Hmm, also I was wondering if there are facebook fake likes that you may get only from 1 country that you want. I think that when I was holding the previous contest, I didn't realize that this one could be a possibility too. I noticed that a few people, say from India, got 600 likes mainly from Indians only, whereby their friends list was showing only 150, to 300. Are there websites which allow this as well?

You can find out where your fans are coming from via facebook insights. When you go to Fiverr look for the flag of the outsourcer youare buying the likes from. If its from india they will be from india mostly. USA flag, better chance from the USA.

Correction! Just tried it out...You no longer need 25 like to create a custom url for a fan page. This is the 3rd time this has happened!

First you need 25 likes, then you don't....

Well as of right now, you don't need likes to change the url to a fan page!

You can get REAL likes by holding a giveaway contest where one lucky fan gets a prize.

You drive traffic to your landing page using Facebook's ad system.

I have clients who did this, and it worked out really well for them.

      Hi all,

Just wondering here as to what value the prize was in the competition as to what the winner (Or receiving 3K like's) would have to spend to get the prize? To me it would not make sense to spend a lot of money to get likes if the prize is not valuable?

Maybe I am wrong with that opinion but then I would like to hear your views on it.

      Thanks all,

The likes can be automated by 1000s of fake accounts, many people have software for this. Also as others have mentioned, be careful when running competitions on your FB page, as you need to have apps to do this now.

I am finding that annoying as well. I'd like to know more about how to get rid of fake likes... I guess there are bots "like"-ing anything. Not necessarily because the like your page/service/site... I guess there is more behind that.

Some firms sell fake fans and in order to fake that they are "real", they mimic real people, who hit "likes" on various pages/sites.
