What does it take to succeed as an affiliate?

I wonder what opinions people have on what it takes to succeed as an affiliate.

Here is my two cents.

It takes a long term strategy. A quick sale from a one time viewing of your website is unrealistic. Experts say it takes an average of 7 times exposure before someone buys. This is why keywords that are very very specific to your niche are important. For Example if your product name was x and your prospective customer types "buy x". This keyword would be one you would want in on.

They need to trust the product and being presold on the product by you is the key.

Good copyrighting is very important. It conveys that you empathize with the reader and therefore the reader can relate to you. People want to do business with a real person. Not a huge company or a robot.

It has been shown that the people who buy are the ones you want to offer additional products or services to. This is why backend products is a good idea.

You need to be unique. Everyone else is competing and doing the same thing. Find a way to offer something different. Find a way to be the first to offer your product in this unique way. Find the problem with the way other affiliates are promoting this product and create the solution.
