What is a membership site?

Hi guys,
I heard the membership site from warriorforum. but I don't know what it is. Can you tell me?

    A membership site has many types. It is basically a website with members area where they create username and password to log in and download their products which they purchased.

    There are:

    One-time membership site: Where they pay you once and create account and then download their purchased product.

    Recurring membership site: Where they pay you every month for content which you monthly provide for them until they decide to cancel.

    That's the simple explanation of it, there are many ways to set-up a membership sites, but the easier one is through WP plugins, if you wish more information then I will be glad to help

      Great advice there MidMido couldnt of put it better myself, they basically offer content to signed up members, where they have to sign in to access it, and like you say their may be different levels that offer more exclusive content and that may need to be paid for as a one off or even monthly or weekly subscription.
