What is your Bounce Rate?

What is a low, normal, and high bounce rate?

Note that I am more specifically thinking about for quality content, authority type blogs. Not adsense, amazon, etc.

I have what I think is a really good blog, getting around 2,000 views per month now, mostly from search engines with good organic keywords... but I have a 61% bounce rate which seems high.

That does seem quite high. Is that for the homepage or an average for the site? How are you driving traffic? i.e. when people land on your site, are they seeing what they expect to see ?

Also how many pages on your site? And have you looked at which pages are the most 'landed on' pages?

One of my main sites has about 230 pages. It's a bricks and mortar business site, fairly static. Bounce rates range from 10-100% depending on the content.

I'm working on the high traffic pages and getting them down to about 50%.

PS. have you checked your title and description tags? Do they accurately describe the site/page?

The standards value of bounce rate is lies between (40 - 55) % and it is based on number of user come at your website and time take over here. If number of web pages with quality content then make sure bounce rate of website in increasing.

The relevancy of product and services with Meta title and description is one of important point for lower bounce rate.

I have a 22% bounce rate for one of my local search terms website. I personally think that if you EDUCATE people and let them know about it in the first page, in the first headline, You'll definitely lower your bounce rate.

"Smart People: 7 Best Ways To Grow More Tasty Tomatoes By Letting Other People Do The Work"

"Only Smart Farmers Know: Are these 3 mistakes killing your corn plants? Fix It In 5 Minutes Or Less"

I dont know your niche, but these kind things you should add. When they click to the page where you have the information, the bounce rate will be lower!

Niche down. Talk to your audience.

There was this VERY cool popup plugin that opens a small colored window in the right below corner that looks like a facebook chat window. That will do the trick.

    Hope this helps!

I thought once that best bounce rates are in flash games sites and forums , i tried to do a flash game website , and i was amazed , the bounce rate is 6% which is very good .
However , sites with small articles cannot have a small bounce rate especially those with incentive traffic
