Hey dudes,

I do not know if this is the right place to ask this question, but what the heck , here I go. I am looking to sell off some unneeded domains for some extra money to start what I really want to try to get into.

URL Appraisal* rated this localjobseeker.com URL at 3028.29 , although looking at what they use to judge the value of a website I feel that their algorithm is severely flawed. It may work for a ball-park price for some websites, but I am really just looking to you fellow Warriors for the real opinion on what localjobseekers.com may or may not be worth.( Please do not look at the content on localjobseekers.com - rather what the domain could be worth ) Although, if you believe there is a viable way to go about designing localjobseekers.com easily ( using indeed, etc ) to increase the value, I am all ears.

* Facebook is only worth 30k and Ebay just a little more at 35k.... I think I'll buy them!! How about you guys?

Thanks a lot!

P.S - if you guys don't mind and have an extra second or two, also check out samsungtvsreview.com and give me a quick appraisal on what you think it would sell for on Flippa!

    Hi

Firstly, you will get slaughtered selling ™ & © sites on Flippa / Website Marketplaces, yes you will get away with selling them, but eventually the ™ owners will catch up and dump the site or sue.

As for value, any DN with a legal route to being sued is not worth developing, dump it or give it to Samsung, then get a generic DN in your niche which has no worries.

DN valuations are all pretty lame, a DN is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

You can have a domain with 1 million hits a day, that seems like it is worth a fortune, but the traffic is all worthless.

You can have a domian with 100 hits a day, that seems worth nothing, but all the traffic is TARGETED niche traffic and is worth a fortune!

Best way to get a value is test the market (once a DN is developed) with a high reserve and then see what bids/questions you get, this will indicate what it is REALLY worth...

Also spend a long time researching previous sales of sites/DN's etc, this is a much better indication of made up values on most "What is my domain worth!" sites

I have a domain that all the appraisers put into the multi thousands (five figures), I'm more likely to get three figures in a real world, unless of course someone really really wants it.

Because it is four letters, somehow it is magically worth fortunes!

Haha thanks guys, definitely good advice and I understand what your saying.

I guess I was just sort of hoping that someone might think the localjobseeker domain name itself might be worth a few hundred.

Need to get something goin' here...

      Thanks

Well, if it's a .com and is a CVCV (consonant, vowel, consonant, vowel) than it really could be worth the valuations.

Here's a list of such domain names that have sold in just the past three months.
      PHP Code:
      Name         Price     Date          Venue
      suga
      .com    $7,400    2012-06-03    namejet
      gapa
      .com    $3,702    2012-05-18    namejet
      zuvo
      .com    $17,500    2012-05-16    sedo
      vulo
      .com    $2,995    2012-05-16    sedo
      yali
      .com    $23,000    2012-05-14    sedo
      tuwi
      .com    $1,001    2012-04-29    namjet
      hoha
      .com    $3,410    2012-04-24    namejet
      zuke
      .com    $40,188    2012-04-17    namejet
      jupo
      .com    $2,600    2012-03-26    namejet
      pilu
      .com    $11,502    2012-03-23    namejet
      bune
      .com    $3,000    2012-03-19    namejet
Than's an average of $10,573 for the 11.

      Love,

Well, if it's a .com and especially if it's a cvcv, then yes; it could very well prove a diamond in the rough.

First thing that comes to my mind for that site is... Work at Home Kid.

You might be able to sell that one for a decent price.

I think this is a sign!

Also, WAH has always been a great prefix for the aforementioned reason, especially when the name is a short and high quality as yours.

Great Name, Best of Luck with it.

Those are not appraisals, those are actual confirmed sales from both Sedo and Namejet.

Thanks Marcia! I'm encouraged enough to look into it a little more. Any recommendations on where to sell it?

While it's not in use, I would at the very least park it at one of the following domain companies, Sedo, Bodis or Voodoo. I don't want to include their respective hyperlinks, however, if you Google each name each will be the first result.

I have had the most success using Sedo, they pay very, very little in terms of cpc from parked clicks but their selling and escrow platforms are quite solid, making them one of the premier parking and sales companies.

If you do choose to park, I would set my asking price to open to negotiation and my minimum initial offer to northwards of $1,000.

As for selling the domain outright, I don't think I could help you. This is the type of domain that is usually best suited to be parked and then wait for the right customer to find that sales page.

Best of luck Chris, please PM me if you should have any additional questions regarding parking (I don't want to steal this thread from Tim Baxa). I am be no means an expert but I purchased my first domain name in 1995, long before I began developing websites in 2003.

Thanks Marcia! All good points... particularly the one about not hijacking the thread.

With that thought in mind I went to urlappaisal.com and ran a number of my domains through it... Some of the appraisals seemed very reasonable and some were extremely low.... others high.

Tim, is it possible to run your url through a number of these tools to see if there is any consistency? If so... it might add some weight or authority to your pricing decision.

With respect to the site itself.... I gave it a very quick perusal and the content seemed sparse but sound as far as it goes. Personally, I would change the theme and spiff up the site some. .... think "curb appeal"!

Next... find additional ways to monetize the site.... start with clickbank for a quick solution. Pick products that provide a lot of affiliate tools and use them liberally to beef up your site...

With respect to the other domain.... I agree with everyone else... walk away from it and consider yourself lucky that you got out with your skin.

                        cheers,
                        chris

It's usually only worth as much as someone will pay for it. It may be worth it to someone. When I did a google keyword search, Speeding Ticket Fight comes up as medium global search. It might prove to be a good natural Search Optimization for a website.
