Video streaming suggestions: self hosted or a service?

I have a bunch of personal and PLR videos that I want to put on some of my sites as content.

I've been trying to figure out the best direction to go.

YouTube is free but they have ads and show other videos at the end of the video. Plus, if people just look at my YouTube channel, they won't have to go to my site (where I have affilate ads).

Viddler seems popular around here so that is a viable option. So does Vimeo Pro but I think they scorn capitalism yet profit from it. :-/

The next set of options is self hosted through AWS or a vod service like NetDNA (a CDN). But that might get costly (?) and I'd need to purchase a player.

That leads to players. If I go the second route, I've seen JW Player, Flowplayer, EZS3 and a few others. I want a player that can serve videos that will work on iOS devices. Flash is dead to me. :-)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Encode your videos to Quicktime format. That works on iPhone. Open an Amazon S3 account and upload your videos there. You can then use a service like eZs3.com - Making Media Easy by Unleashing the Power of Amazon S3 Hosting to create players to embed.

Well, what I really meant to say, is that I want it to work on all platforms (not just iOS). But I NEED it to work on iOS. I still come across some YouTube videos that must only be flash.

Is there an advantage to EZS3 over another player that I'd own (instead of paying monthly charges)?

And when using AWS, there are two Wordpress plug-ins available:

    AWS S3 plugin for WordPress
    AWS S3 + CloudFront

I suspect the second is faster?

I've spent another hour looking at this and it seems to me like Viddler or something like it is easier. Otherwise I need to upload 3 versions of each video so that it can play on all devices.
