Default OMG! (it's ready)

Listen up internet marketers! If any of you are into email marketing, this subject line is powerful. It gets almost all my subscribers to open the email. If you have been using the same old subject lines that don't get people to open your emails, you should try using this one: OMG (it's ready). I just wanted to give everyone here a tip. It has worked awesome for me. So try it out on your list.

Have an awesome day!

~ Gilbert

Yeah, but unless you offer a great deal or a wealth of valuable, useful information within that same e-mail, don't be surprised when you have quite a few Aweber unsubscription e-mails within your inbox. Nothing angers a list more than cheap tactics of garnering attention unless that e-mail is actually of use to them.

You're absolutely right Jake about how you use it. You can't just use it for any email. I used it for a product launch. I used it for my AWeber list and for my email marketing campaigns to promote a new marketing system that came out a few weeks ago. I had over 70 new optins in 32 hours from that subject line.

I'd be ready too - to hit the 'unsubscribe' button. I sign up to mailing lists expecting value in exchange for my time, not drama.

There is no way I would use such tactics to fool people into opening emails. My lists comprise people who expect news or offers from me and they will get nothing less.

It's not about "fooling" people into opening the emails, it's about enticing them to. If it's relevant to what you are offering of course (eg: A new product, or a new section in your membership site or what ever.) It arises questions... "What's ready?" It intrigues them and makes them click through. I see nothing wrong with this method, it depends on who your market is too though, relevancy, professionalism etc... So I see where you are coming from.

Whether you like it or not, the open rate for this thread speaks for itself!

It works to a certain degree provided you have a good relationship with your readers and the subject corresponds with the content of the email. Otherwise, your credibility is on the line.

I agree!but OMG its ready! can only be used for something which is not out yet, a product in in a pre lauch phase, a never before seen video, something which is brand new, use it on other things or use it too much, it can lose its impact.
Subscribers will get used to seeing( by that i mean " ignoring") subject head starting with OMG! so before you do it-
1. use it with caution
2. use it on special occasions only!
3.don't overdo it!

Some triggers i have used in my lists and have worked are:
"i can't believe my eyes! its amazing( for videos)"
"i didn't believe till i read it all:dont' miss( for presell page/ blog posts)"
"switch off your tv and watch this:it won't repeat( for teleseminars)"
"OMG its real, no hype, no BS just pure gold(for upcoming ebook launch)"
"{first name}....headline(matter): gives the reader a more personal feel(for anything or everything)

Hope this helps

Cheers!

P.S- Hot tip: if you are using aweber for broadcasts always, always.... always split test!

Suppose I click on an email with the subject OMG(it's ready).

There better be something which is ready and which made you say OMG.

I dont like to be tricked and this subject line seems to be one which seems to make a fool of subscribers.
I would not like to use this one.

Just my 2 cents.

You might want to consider something you have overlooked...

I know you do not mean to be offensive but that term is a religious term misused.

It actually is a violation of a commandment in the Christian world of "Do not use the name of the Lord thy God in vain."

Strict observers like myself find the misuse of the name of God and the violation of this commandment offensive.

It is never good practice to misuse the name of deity in your marketing

Unless of course you want strict observers of this commandment in Christian, Hebrew, Islamic, and other religions who all hold the name of deity sacred and adhere to this principle to unsubscribe.

If anyone begins sending me emails like this I will unsubscribe and not buy any more products from that person.

True! Didn't think about that... It could actually make you lose respect/subscribers

Thanks for pointing that out. You could always use a different expression that means the same thing, that's not offensive to some people.

This one cracked me up.

Personally, if you just want people to open your emails, yes it might work.

But instead of these things, Why not deliver value so people actually wait for your mails, instead of you having to think on these titles?

Haha, you're so right! Or getting leads that actually WANT what you are offering, rather then just trying to get subscribers.

Yeah, but some people could take it as the other meaning, that's the problem.

Unfortunately that is not the universal interpretation of the acronym.

Maybe people could spell it out instead which would help:

"Oh My Gosh! (it's ready)"

I am sure it would have the same effect without the offensive nature of the acronym :-)

There are a lot of people out there that don't even know what "omg" stands for...probably best to go with what Josh said and spell it out and even then I wouldn't use it regularly...but that's just me. But hey, if it works..it works

Glad to hear you've found something that's getting you results...

Regards,

Chris

I guess you could define it for them in the first line of your email by starting with:
"Oh My Gosh" or "Oh My Goodness" and avoid any offense.

You also really need to know your market. If your niche is a sub-group of Senior Citizens or Christians, etc., then you probably wouldn't want to use it at all.

As for the comments about delivering great content ... of course, that's extremely important, however, if you don't grab my attention with the headline, I'll just put your email into my "read soon" folder and I might not read it for days. If you weren't known for great content, it would be deleted or placed in a generic "newsletters" folder where I'll probably never read it.

By the way, it's good to know that there are other Christian marketers out there (and ethical marketers from other faiths too)!

You should try this one:

"Here's the information I promised you".

The real killer set up for the next email is that you actually deliver on your promise.
The open rates after that are great.

I don't know why more list owners don't use this.

It also makes a good subject line for forum posts, probably works well for the WSO and classified sections as well...

But if you just went through THIS forum and looked for subject lines that get lots of views, fast, you can simply model your own subject lines after them. Just makes sense, they are already proven to work.

Nice tip! I already have a tried and true templates I've used and this will certainly help! Its always a good idea to state honestly what the content of your message is in some way and make it catchy as well. Nice post!

I'm gonna be the stick in the mud and say that even Gosh is just a substitution for God. In that event the phrase still remains unacceptable. That's me, the stick in the mud.

I actually got this email from a friend of mine whose list I'm on. I had not received and email from him for a while, and when I saw the subject line I was like what is this? I opened it up and it was just a short 7 line email stating his product was ready. He told me to launch my campaign with the same ad and in no time I had over 70 of my subscribers optin to a new system. I rarely have any unsubscribers because I generally give them free products for their businesses. Nobody unsubscribed from this email ad. Some may think your subscribers will unsubscribe, if you give all the time you should not have any unsubscribers.

I am new to this so please bear with me. I think it is very catchy and should grab people's attention. It certainly grabbed mine and made me want to know more. Thanks for the tip
