Craigslist and selling websites.. Anyone actually found this to work?

I've read before on a forum that it actually can get you some local business but never had luck.

Hi CBusiness. You know what, I have used Craiglist in the past to advertise online work and all I got out of it was a bunch of SPAM to my inbox. On the other hand, once I was trying to sell my vehicle and I posted on craiglist as well. Took no more than 4 hours and people was already calling me for the ad. Don't know maybe is just good for certain things..

I've never had much success with selling websites / SEO services on CL. Had the same problem you did. Tons of spam and very few people that were legitimately interested.

I agree about CL. Plus there are so many other places you can sell websites at where there are actually buyers interested in buying virtual real estate. :0)

Yes... CL is surely not a good place to sell a website. They don't have the escrow system, so you could get scam easily.

The best place to sell a website is Flippa.

You could create an ad about your Website Sale on CL, but make sure to put your Flippa Auction's link on the ad. So the buyer could buy through Flippa and you could get protection of your transaction.

Yeah Flippa is the best place to go... Some people I talked to before said they had success with CraigsList but I never tried it myself.

I tried it when I got started in the business and I made a little bit of money. If you're looking to get your feet wet or you just need to make some quick cash, that's probably the best place to find people quickly.

I just purchased a guide on how to promote your Website business or any other business and what did impress me the most was the massive list of niche market you can go after. Is literally unlimited potential. You should check it out and as far as the price under $10.00 almost like a no brainer. The list alone will open your possibilities, huge market out there. I am not in the Website business but as an entrepreneur I have learn that marketing is universal and every single one of us should specialized in the art of getting new customers and that can only come from effective marketing and niche focus approach. My suggestion as a fellow warrior is to pick 3-5 different categories of business that will benefit from your service. Built a sample page for each of them and run it on our market. Chances are you will end up collecting some lead or potential customers. The moment you approach a potential business client not only with a solution for their business but also with one or a few customers waiting for a quote on their services, they just can't say no. The price for your services will be paid for up front. Is almost like giving it away in the eyes of the business owner. With this approach they will not see your proposition as an expense but as an investment with a return already built into. Worse case scenario you end up with a couple of good websites producing solid leads that you can then sell for more or you can sell the leads by itself for a percentage of the job. Good luck and here is the link for the product I mentioned earlier: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...ls-incl.html#1

I have found that CL can be ok for client acquisition and selling sites as long as you distinguish yourself and have a means to "weed out" the scammers. I haven't used it to sell sites in a while but what I did in the past was give instructions in the ad on what to put in the subject line to differentiate scammers from prospects. Something like "Website Design - CL" which made it really easy to delete the scammers. I also gave a small discount for mentioning the CL ad.

Overall it worked ok and I probably picked up 20-30 prospects over a 2-3 month period. Wasn't a ton of prospects but was really easy to setup and easy to filter the real from the scammers. Not sure if it will still work very well but you might as well give it a shot. Better to try for yourself and check it out than wonder.

I make pretty decent money on craigslist. I also get many spammers and scammers, but I already know what their mail looks like so I just don't even bother opening and click delete.
