Just a quick question:

Do affiliate networks in general allow you to promote the links through Youtube only? Are you allowed to put your youtube channel in the website box?

Thanks!

Yes you can. Although YT is becoming competitive, it's still a great marketing medium if you do it right. Although you'll want to cloak or shorten your affiliate links if you're direct linking. If you're forwarding the links then that's great too, but a lot of people are attuned to spotting raw affiliate links and that can hurt your CTR.

Oh, and CPA strategies work well with video too, in case you were considering that as well. Best of luck.

    Thanks for the response!

That was my plan. Create a Youtube channel on the niche I'm promoting providing lots of free info and occasional videos about some products that they may be interested in.

    Thanks!

I was considering doing CPA for a bit but will leave that to later on. Going to focus on affiliate marketing for a bit! Yes, I'll definitely cloak my links as I see that a lot of Youtubers don't seem to like clicking affiliate links.

There is no question that you can make money with this method...but I would encourage you to also think about driving traffic to a squeeze page where you can build a list of people who are interest in the markets where you are selling products.

I've relied exclusively on websites that I did not control before for the majority of my income, and when the source dries up or the rules change it isn't fun.

Just a friendly piece of advice!

    Thanks mlord10,

I don't want to be investing any money as of yet into this strategy so I don't want to build a squeeze page just yet. I suppose I could throw something together on Blogger though...

I would send traffic to a website, other then just direct linking. You can have a better chance of people seeing other product reviews you have to offer.

So really what I am trying to say is. Instead of sending them right to the Amazon buy page, for one product. You can have all that traffic viewing everything. Pretty much establishing a authority site.

I have been working on my authority site for a few months and it is starting to do better then my niche sites. Keep in mind, I have seen lots of people direct link and do good. The key is having it go viral. In the end its all trial and error!

I agree with mlord10. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. You may find this method really lifts off for you, but then it suddenly dries up. This is internet marketing, it happens.

Once you have got this method up and running, push some traffic to a squeeze page and start building a niche related list. I'm pretty sure GetResponse have a free 30 day trail still? With a list you can email people whenever you want, even if your videos traffic have dried up.

Yes you can do it. I have done myself in various niches and can tell you that there is a LOT of traffic through this medium and is a lot easier than SEO. I would say CPA offers work better but overall is a very profitable arena. Good Luck!

I also agree that is better not to sell directly from youtube and use a third party site so that you can keep at least name and e-mail address of your customers. This way you will build a list too and you will be able to send e-mails to inform your customers about your new products which they might be interested in.

You're welcome. BTW, don't be afraid to link your videos to your squeeze pages to build your list...there may be multiple sales there vs a one time commission. Good luck, and keep truckin'.

Thanks for all the great responses!

I'm going to build a Blogger site and have my offers on that was well as on my Youtube video. I'm going to try and build a list within the niche I'm promoting for a few weeks too to email them about products etc... I don't want to spend money on something like Aweber just yet. I've heard there is something similar that let's you build a free list until you get to 650 members or something?

I'll try it with that free autoresponder if I can find it and see how it goes. I'll try putting up 2-3 videos per week and promote it on social networking sites as well as on other channels. I'll report back on how it goes!

Note: do not use affiliate links of clickbank and commissionjunction directly in your youtube video discription or blogger blog. they will ban your account or delete your blog, always use link cloaking services or install plugin in wordpress.

Thanks, I'm aware of this. I'll probably use Adfly or something like that to shorten them.
