Hi all

Like lots of others here, I'm looking for advice on getting global traffic fast - Superman fast!

Apologies for the long post, but I thought it important to list things I have done and are doing to A, show I'm thinking and not just asking, and B, to help others too.

Anyway, we've put together MapofNeeds.com over the last good year or so and we went live a few weeks back. Bit of background for the site: "A few years ago I needed to provide some information to a client of mine in Holland but no longer had a valid email address for them. I knew where they lived but no one sends letters any more. Using Google maps, I could see across the road from them was an automotive repair shop, which I could contact via email. Cheekily, I emailed them, asked them to print out the email and place it in the client's letter box. Job done!

This experience did get me to thinking though. I needed something done somewhere, but didn't know anyone there that could help. While I struck it lucky with a bit of cunning, this wasn't always going be the case for me or other people. There needed to be a place I could go to and list my location specific needs. While there are places on the internet to list 'virtual' jobs that can be done wherever, there's nothing along the lines of 'I need this done there'"

Long story short, MapofNeeds.com now exists. Though boy, have things changed since I started on this venture - what with fiverr and all its pals (I still don't get why all the clones??). Anyway, I think they're a little gimmicky and MapofNeeds is definitely still niche and will be of use - hence needing traffic fast, so I can keep it this way! I'm putting in the hard yards, I'm honest and would love to see this bringing value to future users and customers

Things I have done to date:
1. One Press Release developed and distributed by a commercial company. Positive feedback re the media reading the content, but not much traffic flow as a result. A second push of this will go out over the next week or two. You can read the Press Release on our site. I've emailed a local media person here looking for their feedback from the PR - no response yet. I will be following this up with other personal contacts - locally and internationally. Anyone have any recommendations?

2. I have listed several starting Needs on our site for completing in New York, London & Paris. Idea is to show visitors how the site works and get some word of mouth/forwarding going between people that do see the site and do know of people in those locations that can assist.

3. I joined StartupNation and got some good feedback and ideas and an offer from a lady in Holland to publish an article on her site - certainly looking forward to that.

4. 50% Discount on our companies other product just by signing up. There's a cross sell link from the other site for this.

5. Learning lesson quickly about posting links to the site on other forums. Even if there is a connection between ours and their service and I do it nicely or give something back, I don't seem to get any 'friends' as a result. Still, this networking is important and is the virtual equivalent of attending meetings in person, so would have to continue?

6. As a professional, I've got active on LinkedIn and connecting with colleagues etc. I've initially just listed the site details but would spruce this up a little more down the track after some more connections.

7. Twitter integration. I have a twitter account now, but would look to integrate for automatic listing/tweeting.

8. I even posted a gig on fiverr last night saying I'll pay the referral fee for your listed need Unfortunately this got declined due to the link back. Funny, other people seem to do this? I'll look at rewording

Future ideas:
9. Regarding the other product we sell (point 4 above), I have an international distribution list with several hundred previous customers that I plan to email shortly with an update re Windows 8 compatibility for the product and of course tell them about our new service.

10. Articles, articles, articles, blogs, blogs, blogs. Just as a Press Release takes a different view of your offering so it doesn't just come across as a sales pitch, I'm seeing, and reading lots about, how article and blog writing is best way forward here. I'm starting to engage the brain a little here with some angles and would look to get some of these going.
ezinearticles seems to be a good place to start? and I need to track down some blogs with a good number of followers - any recommendations?

11. Not all that keen on Facebook at the moment to be honest. Got a few likes for the actual site, but rather not have to maintain another page/site.

12. & I've got some small fridge magnets made up if anyone would like one

I would really like to use the site as much as possible to help with this - but it's a chicken and egg thing. Like with point 2 above, I see it as a fun and exciting place to visit and see the power of reaching out getting something done specifically somewhere else in the world by someone. With the photos I have requested, one of my sons would like to take them to school for show and tell. He's 7 years old, is paying attention to what we're up to here and is asking some really cool questions. It's a great educational time for our family, to see the site go active with its view of the world, listing needs and seeing connections being made between people. I just have to work my excitement here into an opportunity!

If you're still reading this, apologies again for the long post and thanks for hanging in there. If you have any feedback, ideas, tips & tricks I would love to hear them.

Many thanks and best regards
Brendan

Either buy traffic or invest a few $$$ in PPC or banner ads. There's not really a quick fix to get "superman fast" traffic in a day or two. It's possible, yes, but unlikely to be free.

I'd buy PPV traffic. It's cheaper than PPC traffic so you can get a lot of traffic out there for the money. Therefore a lot of traffic, fast.

The fastest way to get traffic is from Media Buying. The fastest way to get huge traffic is from PPC, like Adwords, Facebook, MSN Adcenter.

For PPC, I think the best way to get huge, cheap, targeted traffic in short time is from Adwords Display Network (the banner ads).

Another option to get huge traffic in short time is Solo Ads. But, Solo Ads is more expensive than PPC.
