So I'm Going to Give Pinterest a Whirl - Any Suggestions?

Hi all...

I've decided to give Pinterest a go. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have zero experience with Pinterest. I'm particularly interested in understanding the general steps necessary to get re-pins and traffic.

I mean, is it really as simple as posting images of products that women would be interested in? My plan would be to spin up a site promoting "girly" things and then pin an image or two per day from my site and then some images from some other related sites that I don't control.

What else should I be considering?

Yeah there is more to it but still definitely worth your effort IMO. Get the basics down there's lots of free info on that around and then check out Pinterest rePin Club Tutorial - YouTube for some more advanced tips.

One thing you'll be happy about is that its a whole lot easier to learn than something like FB

    Good Luck to Ya

Pinterest can be like a runaway train so stay focused.

This is just a simple scenario.

Let's say you own a restaurant and one your your web pages as a very nice picture of a couple enjoying a romantic meal in your restaurant.

Copy the url, go to your pinterest board - click ADD and CREATE BOARD.

Let's call it 'Romantic Meals in Chigago' and write a nice description using lots of keywords.

When it comes to 'PIN' paste the url of the page and you'll see a window with images, select your chosen image and it will pin it to your board.

You might want a theme called 'Best Pies in Chigago'.

Once you have a number of boards based on your restaurant, search in Pinterest for your town and look for interesting pins, that you can re-pin. It might be gift store, shoes or even local dog grooming!

Soon you'll get people re-pinning yours and the viral effect will kick in.

The main thing is don't go too diverse but don't get too spammy. Share, repin and follow.

    I hope this helps.

What a coincidence! I just saw a Don Crowther's webinar just last night. It was all about pinterest.

I am a Pin-expert (or addict) and I still managed to pick up a few good tricks.

Like all webinars, it ended up with a call to action to his training course and honestly, considering how much I learn in the webinar ... what the heck... I purchased it that night.

You can get it at pinincome.com. I am not an affiliate for Don just a fan of his works.

        Cheers,
        Woei Yu

          Hey Buddy,

I started out on Pinterest last Fall before all the hype, and it's definitely worth it.

However, the very first thing you need to do is to either get approved by Pinterest to be a member OR have a member send you an invitation. Generally speaking, it's quicker to get an invitation, though when I originally signed up, I applied and took like 3-4 days.

I hope that helps; that way, you won't be delayed once you're ready to kick it off with Pinterest.

          Best of luck!

          Cheers,

          Anthony

Just a tip when starting Pinterest

Grab the Chrome or Firefox extension called Pin-It

It will save a whole lot of time from pinning and creating new boards.

You can pin pictures as you surf rather than having to login all the time

            Hope that helps

I would recommend creating a network of accounts so you can "boost yourself" and get your pins on the popular page for what you want to promote. I've made a few free videos about it:

I would also recommend signing up at Pinerly.com. It allows you to schedule pins and then it tracks the repins so that you know what is popular and what is not. I am still looking through it but it seems pretty neat so far.

My best Pinterest advice is to use it how it's intended to be used. Don't be a spammer, don't have multiple accounts, only pin good stuff, etc.

Be sure to choose a tricky password and change it often. My account was hijacked about a week ago and a spammer was posting new boards to my account almost daily, all exactly the same, all with the same "work from home" url.

I second that about your password. Make sure it is STRONG, I have recently come across multiple clients who have had their accounts hijacked recently. Seems like they have a serious security flaw somewhere.

Pinterest is really on fire right now.

Be sure to read up on the general info and watch the tutorials. Its quite easy to get started and also quite easy to get off track so be sure to be focused on your goal.

I am new to this forum but not to IM or Pinterest. I have been doing pinterest since last 3 months. I have a huge success with it. I am able to get easy 15k-20k Visitors everyday. Making 120$ to 200$ everyday by adsense. Here's what you need

    To succeed with Pinterest:

    Requirement:

    200 to 1k Accounts
    Bot
1-4 Website (varies by categories you wanna rule)
    Proxies
    Time

Accumulate huge number of pics from pinterest or any other sources. Make sure they are out standing and catchy.

Get a site with a catchy name like thefoodspecialist.com or Whatever.com. (You this coupon for 0.99$ from Register.com Code: Reg099ql). Get a cheap host like hostgator or from any other cheap and reliable provider.

Post the pictures to the website first. Make sure you have atleast 200 per website if you have more

Pinning is the most important aspect of Pinterest. Never care about followers, but just pinning.

Have a bot that like repin and comment.

Login from the accounts and pin atleast 25-35 Pics per day from your website. The more accounts you are able to login per day the more visitors the more money.

Once you find your certain pin goes viral use a bot and give likes comments and repins to it.

The pin will go viral and will be posted on the Popular Page.

Once your pin gets there. Expect 100k people for that day.

This is my strategy at a very high level. If you need any more info please feel free to ask

I don't have much experience with Pinterest, but Bertus Engelbrecht (member of this forum) launched a software that automates Pinterest marketing, and also includes a guide on how to use Pinterest.

I can give you a recommendation though:

    Focus on building your list!
