Hi guys,

i am simply interested in how many warriors have created or attempted to create a forum in the past. If so what were the issues you came across?

Please dont post links to your forum, instead please let me know what forum software you use. I have recently got started with Vbulletin as i have been told it it the most popular, i am also aware that the Warrior Forum uses Vbulletin.

So in general i am just interested in how many Warriors use Vbulletin, however feel free to discuss forum management and ideas in general.

Thanks,
-Michael

I use it daily on several sites. It's the best forum software out there period.

Free ones do exist, but that's comparing apples to oranges.

I don't own a forum myself, but I was looking for forums in Google for a niche I'm in. It seemed that every single forum I found (and I spent an hour looking through them) used vBulletin. It does seem to be the most popular, like PPC said before me.

vBulletin is the only way to go, nothing comes close.
If you plan on monetizing your forums, you are leaving money on the table by not using vBulletin.

vBulletin is without a doubt the best forum software out there, though it can be pricey for some not wanting to invest too much. A great free option is MyBB.

Forget vBulletin. There's a reason this forum is stuck on version 3.8.7. (You can verify that by checking the source code of the main index page, a few lines down.) Versions 4+ have been out for over a year now, but they've had problems.

A lot of vb forums have switched over to xenforo.com, and liked it better. I haven't checked up on this for a few months now so maybe there is more news. It was set up by people not happy with the way vb was going.

Forums have a very high failure rate. Unless I had a really good feeling about it, I'd start with a free forum software, SMF. If things work out and it is worth going with a paid version, they can all import a forum from SMF.
