Need some advice on product reviews

I'm currently building an authority review website based around GPS devices for North America, as I've found some keywords for this that I think I can rank for.

I've already finished development on a large portion of the site, but before I go into "full throttle" on the next phase of creating product reviews, I'd like to get some outside opinions on how to structure my reviews to improve their conversion chances.

On the home page right now you'll see one product review here: GPS Home Page.

I've structured this sample review strongly off of the reviews located on another competing website located here. This site actually ranks in the top 10 Google results for "GPS Reviews", so I assume that whoever made it has an idea of what he's doing and is getting some conversions.

Please tell me what you think about how the review is laid out, and how I could change and tweak it to increase conversions in the future. Also any feedback on the site is appreciated, even though the primary landing pages aren't created yet.

      Thanks.

I could possibly do that. I'm trying to find the right balance between pushing the sale and helping the reader.

You mean put the star rating that the reviewer left? Or add a star rating system that my visitors can rate the product themselves?

Excellent point by Brian. You should really implement the star sytems, it works unimaginably well. Also your site is really nice as far as I can tell.

Using the star system is really a great way of driving a lot of clicks to particular products you may want to promote more.

I'd have to agree with everybody else as far as the star rating is concerned - your model site looks much better with that included. Otherwise, it looks very promising.

    Good luck,

I would suggest you do more than 1 review on the first page... it looks like an ad fro Garmin at the moment. There is some good software for doing reviews.

By looking at your quelltext I can see you did not use wordpress or anyother you used html. It is a brave choice because there are great plugins and/or themes for wordpress to do reviews faster and with very flexable formats. Using html you have to go in and change everything each time you add something new. Your call BUT I would use Wordpress you move faster, look better and have less work.

I agree on the Star system and I would add some reviews, people buy what others have bought and love.

    Nice site!

I would like to see a buy button at the bottom of the content pages, in addition to the top one.

I would also make GPS Reviews at Ace-GPS-Reviews.com the homepage, you can add some content for relevance.

I don't know if it's possible for you, but I would like an alternative to Amazon affiliate vendor to be shown as well.

    Good luck.

    Pete

I love the site. Nice and clean. I would add a call to action somewhere in the first paragraph (instead of linking the product's name) and at the very end.

First paragraph: Click here to see what others are saying.

At the end: Click here to purchase the product.

People like being told what to do. Do that and your CTR should improve.

I should caution you though: If those reviews are copied from Amazon directly, you could be headed for trouble with their TOS.
