Yes this is really for all the newbies, but I thought i'd share this I had my best earner slapped it was an amazon site, and it was an exact match domain selling supplements and sometimes I had position 1 then 2 then 1 again, and then I dissapeared, I had a process going where I would have one outsourcer write articles with the main keyword in the article and then pass them on to another outsourcer who would spin the articles really good and then load them up in a blogging network, now this is before blogging networks got hit by the panda/penguin update, so yes my articles were spotted because the keywords were always in the same place, same keywords x2 per article, yes I know now, how stupid, we all learn from our mistakes, but just for any newbies to avoid this and to learn spinning the right way , which is spinning at the sentence and keyword level, deleting sentences and adding some, youre spinning has to be perfected, I do it now this way and its been going well for the last year no problem, but i put this spun content on feeder sites.

If only I had known this before my only big earner got slapped.
so learn from my mistake

I think original articles and no spinning at all is the way to go. In the long run any kind of corner cutting or short cutting is going to hurt you. Googles algorithms just get more and more advanced and I know for a fact they don't like spun content. I just wonder how long it will be before spinning gets so complex because of Googles detection processes that it just doesn't make sense to do it anymore.

That might be 3 or 5 or 7 years from now. Now, if you've been pumping out spun articles for years and have tons of backlinks and google finds a way to detect them, then you're are going to lose a ton of work. If they had been original, there might have been less of them, but at least they're legit and won't get squashed by the google bomb. Just my 2 cents

I would bet you did not get hit for spun content, you got hit for anchor text over optimization and you can recover from that.

Google have never said they will penalize spun content, just not reward it. What they will punish is keyword stuffing, and what I think might have happened to you 'over optimization of anchor text'.

When you was uploading to all the different URL's did you vary your anchor text? If you used the same 'buy supplements','buy supplements' etc then penguin was directed right at taking you out.

I would head over to majesticseo and look at the anchor diversity, if one keyword is repeated over 60% then you should try to login into the web 2.0s and vary the anchor text. Your site may well recover then.

P.s. not to be a douche, but this is the wrong forum, it should go in the SEO one about 7 forums down.

EDIT: Source to back up what I am saying http://www.micrositemasters.com/blog...ways-to-do-so/

think about it 100's of articles all with the same keywords positioned in the same place, and this was the only big mistake I had made and let through, I agree you need to train youre outsourcers well when it comes to spinning .

Nothing to with spinning mick. Google have never said they will penalise spun content, just not reward it. I guarantee its using the same keyword that got you hit.

Let me quote the guys at micromasters who had the data to make cold hard facts on the penguin update

“Every single site we looked at which got negatively hit by the Penguin Update had a ‘money keyword’ as its anchor text for over 60% of its incoming links. On the other hand, the sites that were not hit by the update had much more random percentages. Having over 60% of your anchor text being a money keyword did not guarantee that your site would be hit by the penalty (many of the sites not affected had numbers just as bad), but if under 50% of your anchor text for incoming links were ‘money keywords’ it’s all but guaranteed you weren’t affected by this update.”

    Thanks for the advice.

Personally I'm going to be staying away from spinning as Im afraid in the future google is going to be targeting spun content.

Yes like lukedidit says, put out some more content on web2.0 properties, article directories etc and mix up your anchor text. Use related keywords, and toss in a few "click heres", naked URL's etc. That can help you bounce back.
