Can somone tell me what is the advantage of "facebook likes"?

Because I don't see any advantage.
I am getting more sales through Google than Facebook where most people seeing my page are just my friends... Even though it has thousands of likes, it's useless for my business's perspective....

thanks,
adie

The advantage: your website/ post could appear on their FB profiles, and their friends could see your site/ post also.

Facebook likes important to give you additional traffic.

..But I see FB traffic is least important. Most people visiting or using facebook are just to promote their own business, or just chatting with friends on useless topics.. I see seldom serious buyers who spend time on FB...

Collecting Facebook likes is part of the selling/marketing strategy. If you have "a lot" of Facebook likes, you must be a superstar in your niche. People go to superstar movies, superstar restaurants, superstar businesses, and anything that is superstar.

When there are a lot of new faces on the neighborhood, there must be a party.

A Like is an expression of casual affinity. It indicates that the person has an interest in your business and wants to hear from you. This can lead to the building of more personal relationships with customers and a greater degree of engagement with them, rather than the email marketing.

The real advantage of Facebook likes is when you are promoting a local business and you actively interact with other local pages.

It makes for a nice ego boost. Other than that I don't see the advantage and don't waste my time with the platform.

When someone likes your page, it will show up on their profile that they have liked your page.

When their friends visit their profile, they will see it there.

When someone likes your page its almost like opting in to your list. Every time you post a status update on that page they see it in their newsfeed. The like is also a way to build social proof.

I though they only see a small percentage of what you post..say 18% if youre lucky not every thing you post.

To be more accurate, when someone is a fan of your page, they have a better chance at seeing your Facebook updates than reading an email you send. Only about 2% of your fans will ever see your updates. Unless they are scrolling to see all the updates that have been posted since they were last logged in, they will only see what has occurred within eye sight with maybe a little scrolling. I actually have a subscription form on my website for my fans to join a VIP list to receive a text message whenever I post a major update to my Facebook page.

Getting likes is definitely a great way to boost your credibility and social proof. If you get alot of "likes" on your posts, it could snowball and become huge. I don't know whether it gives you more opportunity for exposure or not but certainly can't hurt!

Getting likes on your facebook page increases credibility and works well for branding purposes.

If you are able to get a conversation going on facebook, all the more it increases your influence as it makes your post stay at the top for a longer time.

I agree with you that facebook may not be the best for getting sales conversions as the traffic is less targeted if the likes comes from your own circle of friends. Promoting your facebook page to your subscribers in your email list can make your facebook list more effective.

      1) Social Proof
      2) Direct interaction with your customers (good for getting feedback, marketing new products, etc).
      3) Viral capability

      Thats about it.

Social proof, People are more likely to believe that you are selling a legit service or are providing something legitimate if they see that there are more people like them who have "liked" the business
