Newbies, what's your biggest problem?

Hi,

I am interested in finding out what the biggest problem for new marketers is. Is it getting traffic or something else like lack of direction?

I am interested in hearing all the comments.

    Way back when I started my biggest problem was not knowing what the heck to do. Then it was feeling like I was mislead. Then it was getting traffic. Then it was getting leads. Then it was getting conversions. Then it was getting emails opened. I kept jumping hurdles, learning and taking action daily. I still am going and things are so much easier now.

      This is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO me right now man. Geez. But I realize it's part of being a newbie. It's like walking around in your dad's clothes as a little kid. All the arms and legs are too long and you're stumbling around but you grow up and find your way. I'll get there eventually.

        The main thing is not to give up. I have had some major set backs with authority sites disappearing and I have really wanted to give up, but luckily I didn't. Its a great feeling when you know you are finally getting some where and actually make some money :-).

      I would say content creation is my biggest problem. My experience with paying for content is that it is of universally low quality. Of course, I've never been willing to pay a lot for content.

      I figure the real problem is a self-limiting belief of some kind: "Oh I'm not a writer," or "This will take me too long." I've found the only way to create content is to just sit down and do it. Plan it out first with an outline, and then just write.

      Soon the muse gets tickled, and I'm suddenly the creative person that I feared I wasn't. If this is like the experience you have when trying to figure out what to put on your squeeze page, or what to write for your article or e-mail follow-up the solution is simple: Write. Every. Day.

      No exceptions.

    I should post where I went wrong really.

    After spending a long time learning seo and managing to get my sites front page of Google for product launches I finally made some money. However.... there was no continuity in it and with one algorithm change all profits were instantly gone, slamming my sites into Google oblivion. Luckily I didn't give up and battled on.

    I learnt that if I am to quit my job then I must work more on continuity, whether its from a list or spread across various traffic sources.

    I think it's probably the knowledge factor. The main piece of advice I would give to any newbie is to take time to read through forums and whatever useful material you can get your hands on. Then do your due diligence on everything you look to invest in whether it be your time or your money. You are likely to make mistakes and you are almost guaranteed to have failures but it's how you react to these that makes the difference.

    I think it's a mix of lack of direction and also traffic. After putting plans into action, it all seems good until struggle to get traffic. No traffic = no money.

    Newbie now and i faces lots of problems. Or i think them as problem. Its start from doing up a good squeeze page with good opt in rate, to how to effectively fine tune my follow up emails to interact with my list. How to provide value for them and help them solves their problems and all the way till making a good sale funnel.
    You see, there plenty of stuff for a newbie like me to learn and losing my direction is dangerous.

      You seem to think of things as problems before you've taken action. I've spent much time with this mindset myself; it will absolutely paralyze you. Here is what you do...

      Hold these things in mind:
      • It is ok if your squeeze page sucks.
      • It is not a problem if your free offer is garbage.
      • It doesn't matter if your e-mail follow-up does not get sales.
      • It isn't a big deal if you're not getting much traffic.

      Now why would I say these ghastly things?

      Because if you have a squeeze page, and you have an auto-responder, and you've landed a couple of subscribers, and you've sent any e-mail follow-up at all, you're golden Johnny! You have outperformed 99% of the people that come to this forum asking n00b questions.

      Get that bare bones system in place, and then start asking questions, then start data mining and tuning, then get serious about content. Otherwise you're an artist without a canvas.

    Not taking action. The fastest way to get over the newbie stage is to do something, even if it fails. You need to fail as quickly as you can in order to succeed as quickly as you can. Unfortunately a lot of newbies don't get past this newbie stage...failure is to be expected, but true learning comes only through doing and making mistakes.

      Although people may say that a lot of newbies are not focused, there are quite a big number of them who put a lot of effort and spend a lot of money in the process. However they get "defeated" and "worn out" when they don't see results. ( I was one of them)

      I think the MAIN problem is that a lot of newbies , don't know where to START. What should they do? They need to learn to pick whats best for them and what works.

        When I started out, I always thought that IM is easy. Build a website, get a hosting account + domain and let the money rake in.

        In the end, it's more complex than I thought.

      To speed up content you may want to consider having someone translated it from your language to English, or hiring someone from Elance or whatever to do edits. My husband had a travel agency in Italy and when he began adding content online for the US in English, I had to spend a lot of time cleaning it up.
      Even minor errors will kill your credibility.

    I procrastinate.
    I don't have a mentor.
    I'm overloaded with info or sometimes lacking.
    I jump from one shiny object to another.

      I think this is a big one as there are a lot of "dubious" products out there and newbies don't know who trust. The sad thing is that a newbie could buy a product and put in the hard work, only to to fail as the training is just not up to scratch.

    If I could go back in time and give myself one piece of advice for when I first started it would be to stay focused stop jumping from one method to another it doesn't get you anywhere! You need to learn to stay focused on one method until you are successful with that method.
