How Do I Optimize Minimum Time?

I have been working with an internet mentor for a couple of months now, and had his webmaster design a site template for me. Now the webmaster is really hard to get a hold of. He set me up with the Optimize Press theme and I am having a tough time working with it. Anyone have a way I could get a hold of the instruction manual without buying the theme again for $97?

Also, since I have been at this for a couple of months, I have shelled out about $3,500 for the website and mentorship. I still think I'm a long way from making my first sale and I don't know how deep in the hole I have to go. I have a full time job and run rental properties/flip houses on the side. So I have about an hour or two to devote each day to working on this website:

Airline Pilot Investing | Just another WordPress site

What I am really wondering is whether people think I can make money in IM if I can only devote an hour or two a day to it? I read about people pulling all-nighters and working 90 hours per week on it, but I just don't have that kind of time.

If I can just make $2-$3,000 per month, I could quit my regular job and live off the income from my rentals and some flips. Then I could devote more time to this. But I'm wondering if I should just stick to the real estate thing? Any 'career advice' would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Here is the link to get access to the training portal: OptimizePress Members Only | Optimize Press If you made two "all in" sales with the company I work with you would meet your income goal. You can do that in 1-2 hours with paid marketing strategies. The system I use has basic to advanced marketing education and has a full funnel where you make 100% commissions.

Try e-mailing the people who sell the theme. Explain your situation.

Sounds like you need to decide (and quickly, before you get any deeper) if the mentoring program is "for you" and a good fit right now.

Can you? Yes. But generally not without devoting a lot of money and/or time first. Say if I worked on a site full time for a year... then (if done correctly) I can get by devoting only an hour a week to keep it going. But by that point i've already INVESTED a lot into the site.

Yes but looking to make 2-3k "out of the gate" is a little unrealistic. It may happen, but probably wont... at least not right away. Look at starting with small income goals ($100/day) and working your way up.

As long as the time you are putting in is quality time getting things done, then you can manage putting in a couple hours a day doing work to make money. It really helps to have a set plan before starting. I put a lot of time in, but in all honestly I get distracted easily and spend too much time reading about other people's success stories, hearing how they made $X amount, instead of focusing on my plan and writing my own success story.

It might take you longer than other people on short time, but if you are doing worth while tasks and you see a future in your project, then keep at it and push through the road blocks you face. Don't let time be the reason why you failed. The reason why (should you) fail is because you gave it all you had and didn't hold back.

  • Yes you can make money online working only a couple of hours a week. The hardest part is getting started. After you get set-up it gets easier.

Having a mentor is really good. It gives you someone to be accountable to and keep you on track.

Two hours a day can get eaten up pretty quick so minimize any time wasters - Forums, surfing, email.

Set a standard for yourself. How much is your time worth?

If you can pay someone to do something faster than what your time is worth then pay the money.

Focus on your strengths and work with others who are A players.

    Leverage whatever you got.

Align yourself with JV partners - Success does not occur in a vacuum. We all need the support of others in order to succeed.

    Focus,

When I was working full time + overtime I rarely had any time at all to work on my business. I was sleeping less and working in wherever I got the time.

The best thing that happened for me was using the pomodoro technique, look it up, its a very simple productivity tool if you utilize it right.

Wow! So much advice so quickly! Thank you so much.

Brian - the $2-3K per month is my goal. I am perfectly happy starting small.

What I find hardest about just spending an hour or two a day is learning new tasks like figuring out what to do in Wordpress. I have no problem writing a lot, but sometime I'll take hours to figure out one thing in Wordpress or how to do SEO or one of the other million things you have to know to do IM successfully. Anyone have any ideas?

The Resale Rights Ninja I think is on to something. But I spend a lot of time and have been burned several times by people who promised to program and then disappeared on me. Guess I'm gun shy a little.

    Hey Hal,

That's an interesting market you are in. Do you know if that's a profitable market?

In general you really only need to choose a market in either health, wealth, or lifestyle.

You don't really have to go venturing outside of those three areas.

    I would consider your market.

    ----

Also, what's your mentor say to do? I'm surprised to hear you feel like you're far away from your first sale if you're getting mentoring.

It sounds like the mentoring program was high priced to?

If it was, tell him/her to just tell you what you need to make your first sale!

To make your first sale here's a very foundational model to follow.

Traffic >> Squeeze Page offering a free gift >> Thank You Page or One Time Offer (salespage)

    So...

    1) Decide for sure what market you want to enter
    2) Create a free gift to give away on your squeeze page
    3) Set up your squeeze page
    4) Have your squeeze page redirect those who optin to a salespage selling a related offer
    5) Start driving traffic to your squeeze page to build your list in that market
    6) Email your list continuously with relevant value and relevant product promotions.

None of this should really take THAT long. Two hours a day is plenty if there are ZERO distractions. You should be able finish this whole process in two weeks.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. It's funny. I've been working with my mentor for about 6 months and he suggested that niche (I am a former Air Force and airline pilot) without doing much research. Airline pilots have a lot of free time and he thought with what I do on the side I could give them advice/sell information products on how they can make money -using real estate, discount mortgages (I invest in those as well and do pretty well), precious metals and internet marketing (which I am learning). He is charging $300 a month and does very well himself. Most people on these message boards would know him. He said I should not really need to do much key word research at this point - just learn wordpress, write and start making youtube videos to make the site more like khan academy.com.

He said to bear with him for 24-36 months to build the business and not be in a hurry. He seems like a very ethical guy, but I just worry about pouring money down a rat hole that never yields anything.

I wrote 2 ebooks that I can sell and a free ebook to give away. I am working on my own with aweber to get the free ebook up and running. I am also now trying to post to my blog at least 2-3 times per week.

Spend some of that money on freelance writers to create the content and backlinks for you. That way you do not have to do all the work.

Sweet man sounds like you're on the right track then.

As for worrying about putting in money and losing money... here's how you can "check yourself"

Think about all the money you spent and keep spending. If it's going towards learning "direct response marketing" then you're in good shape. Direct response marketing and the ability to sell well is the most stable and reliable skill you can have because while technology changes, human nature doesn't.

If you spent the next 12 months earning just a few hundred dollars but you really became a student of direct response marketing and sales then you're gonna be in good shape!

However if you find yourself spending all your time and money learning the latest traffic generation strategy or the latest trick *cough* Pinterest* cough* *cough
then I think you should reconsider where you're priorities lie.

    Disclaimer: Nothing against Pinterest lol.

Disclaimer 2: Didn't mean to preach right there!

    Good luck!

Well all the money you spent till now isn't a waste, as most probably you surely have learned a lot from it and is added as your experience. It's a really good thing that you are taking the internet marketing / optimization on your own, however just devoting 2 hours a day is quite less, as it would take a whole lot of time for your website to become a success, as it is surely not enough.

With limited time and budget i prefer you to make a proper plan and schedule for your marketing so it can be organized and you can make the most out of it in the best possible way. You can start your schedule like that:

    Monday: Social Media.
    Tuesday: Blogging.
    Wednesday: Link Building.
    Thursday: Article Submission.
    Friday: Video Submission.
    Saturday: Social Media.
Just follow this type of pattern or schedule, but i prefer you to give more attention to social media, as this is the way from where you can get good traffic and can also get some high PR back links for your website.
