yahoo does the same too since well before google implemented

i believe google progressed theirs from their google lab and google suggest test center...

@theyoungmarketer does it not display as you start typing? do you need the google toolbar installed i wonder?

@ukescuba: I don't have the Google Toolbar installed. Although I mostly use Google Chrome as my browser, I checked this on Firefox first.

I like it! A nice simple and effective way to gauge some search results on niches, and a bit quicker that the google keyword tool! I'd probably use this with the Google keyword tool to get a good picture of things. Thanks for the instructions Michael! Great post!

I thought those results showed how many returns there were for that search keyword/phrase .... not how many people are searching for it. Right?

You can have a keyword/phrase have a million results, but hardly anyone searching for it.

search for google suggest and you will find this tool. But the statistics there are NOT real time there is a time lag

Yes, thats correct. The number displayed shows how many returns there were for a given keyword...

Excellent tip for some quick and easy keyword research!

Remember though...

This technique shows you how many results there are for a particular keyword phrase (meaning how many web pages have those keywords on it...)

When you use the Google Keyword Tool however, it tells you how many people search for that keyword on average, per month -- which is more valuable information when doing niche research.
