Youtube traffic anyalisis

Lets say there is no competition for keyword "blue widgets" in youtube...

And...

Google's keyword tool says there are 2,000 searched a month on google for "blue widgets."

Based on your experience, how many do you think there are on youtube?

This is a tough question because you can get traffic from Youtube in many ways, other than search. For example, posting video responses, commenting or having videos listed as similar on video view pages.

But...If you're looking for estimates for search numbers, use Youtube's keyword suggestion tool. It is similar to the Google Adwords tool, but uses Youtube data:

Even I use this method to find the data from the youtube. Even though it doesn't cater my needs to 100% but still is the only available tool for traffic estimation (as far as I know)

Never faced this. Usually I attack competitive niches and make videos that have other videos with decently high views.

If it is not too hard, why don't you simply experiment with a minimal investment? For example, by making a Powerpoint and converting that to a video with one of your desktop tools etc? The video would anyway rank on youtube because there's no competition, and would also not be difficult to rank on Google.
