How to treat IM as a business compared to a Brick & Mortar store

Making money online is a real business so it needs to be treated as such. It surprises me how many people really want to make money online and take it up as a hobby so here are a few of my tips to those who really want to take it to the next level.

Building a Internet Marketing business takes a lot of initial work before it pays off just like a brick and mortar store.
Brick and mortar stores require a business plan breaking every tiny minuscule detail down into the smallest portions.

When I come across something I am wanting to do in my IM business or am having trouble doing a process I know is essential, this is exactly what I do to help get through it. Break it down in the smallest steps possible and set goals to get them done. I know the hard work has to go in before I see any payout.

A common thing in brick and mortar stores is to franchise because it works. So think in the same mind set.

Reverse engineer what you know is working by good and well known IMers. Don't know whats working? Next time you get an email and see a product you wanna buy stop and think... what makes me want this? Is it the person suggesting it, is it the sales copy, what has gotten me to the point that I want to hand money over for this. Because I bet you can get to the same point!

Same goes with a product you are pleased with, find out what about it exactly pleased you and you'll have a good idea of how you should create a product to provide value.

As for a challenging! In my opinion it can be challenging going to a day job every day and being stuck. Nothing new on a daily basis, same repetitive stuff over and over. Making the same amount no matter how much effort is put in.

Now lets compare this to IM - Something new everyday to overcome, challenges that are worth while and knowing that you can do or learn whatever is needed. Knowing that if you really put your head down and work and put effort into a solid plan you will reap what you sow or get what you put in.

Getting yourself to overcome any challenge in anyway possible is a entrepreneurial spirit. Internet marketing is a new form of business compared to what you see in brick & mortar stores so you need to have that mind set.

So a few tips on treating your IMing as a business. Make a to do list everyday, make small attainable goals everyday. Follow a plan and FOCUS on it. Go and make it happen. Then monazite all the small methods you used by turning them into products, reports, videos or helpful post here on the warrior forum.

You might ask how I am monetizing this info right now... well its getting my name seen or branded a bit, my sig links in front of people, my post count up and I may get a few thank you's thus enhancing my reputation.

Not that any of that is required guys, just an example.

Reverse engineering will take you a long ways. Go find out why you open emails from your favorite marketer, how you came to like them, what products you enjoyed the most, how big marketers are branding themselves then go put together a plan and take action!

Cheers,
Karson

You made some great points. Reverse engineering is a very effective way to figuring out the details behind a successful campaign. Having a to do list is incredibly important. Completing it is even more important. Another thing I have found to be incredibly important is sticking to one thing until you are successful. Do not hop around or buy a bunch of products. If you are promoting a particular system stick with your efforts until you are successful with that system. Building your reputation is another great tip. Again, great post. I look forward to seeing more from you.

Yes, reverse engineering is the quickest way to learn other people's success. We could learn faster and easier by doing reverse engineering, rather than learn from books/ guides.

    Tips to do reverse engineering:
    1. Observe
    2. Copy
    3. Modify

Observe other people's business or marketing that could make you "sold"
Copy in detail. By copying you learn a lot from the business.
Modify the business so it could fit your market
