How Bad is the Selling Market for Websites Now Because of Google Changes?

I've been selling sites since 2010 on and off. Never had such a problem getting sites off at the prices I'm offering EVER.

I have not been active on Flippa but have nearly $3000 in sales and 22 users following me. I dont even get any consistent bidders on Flippa.

On DP, I've sold about 50 sites ( 42 were in a bulk deal ) , eventhough I have no iTrader ranking there. WHy? I dont know. But none-the-less, I've been able to sell. I barely get questions now.

What's going on with the Websites Buying / Selling Market Right now? What do I need to make transparent to increase chances of sales you think ?

I've heard the whole Google changes theory. Basically the market is all shook up but even in down-time, I know there's smart buyers that know it's time to find good deals and adapt.

I don't think the problem is with Google, more-less market saturation setting in. There's so many site/domain flipping courses out there that everyone and their mother are building sites and trying to sell them. Nowadays, the only sites that are profitable for selling are those that have age, profits and existing traffic. Your average WordPress side might sell for less than $100 if you're lucky, for the work involved, not worth it. That same $100 is still good money for someone living in a country in development stage; India or the Phillipines for example.

While those "stupid simple" sites used to sell for thousands, they now sell for uhm, peanuts. Reason being is that everyone and their mothers know how to make a nice site using WordPress and outsourcing costs have dropped dramatically because of the market demand. Developers often have to work at a loss to gain this "spender contact" and smart marketers know that it's easy to find the same work done at much lower price. It's not uncommon to get a highly professionally built site built for $200-$300 and that might sell for twice that even many site flippers sell at a loss.

Again, buyers want to buy sites that already profit since building your own website is so easy nowadays and people would much rather do the DIY thing rather than paying someone to do it. Plus, those who are doing very well have their own developers on speed dial, so there again, why buy a site?

    Hope this helps

This person got it right, its time for a change. Most of the sites being sold on Flippa are Autoblogs, Turnkey Services sites, Coupon Sites, Travel or Vaction Sites. People aren't just going to keep buying the same websites over and over again.

It's time for a new level of website building. With the popularity of Wordpress and the ease of use many people can put out a great looking website in hours, they would see no point in going to Flippa to purchase a website for a $100.

Only sites that are selling now are sites with age, proof of income, or high traffic unless someone could start a new trend.

Selling on Flippa can be very costly if your only selling sites that average $100 a sale. With Flippa's Fees - $19 listing Fee - 5% success fee; minimum of $10 and don't forget the Paypal fees, and the cost of the domain and hosting.

Sometimes offering support to your buyers can be like a full time job it's self. Transfer sites and and answer questions.

I notice sellers offering 100s of bonuses to increase bids, it's a good idea, but not sure how long that's going to work.

I agree mate.. It has never been harder.

I thought it was only me but now I guess the problem is not only my own.

Saturation means that only the quality will continue to sell. People with sites that are making money will always be able to sell. Continue to build sites that make money and you should have no issue flipping them.

Can anyone review my site and tell me what the problem is ?

I dont want to post it here because I know that's advertising they dont want.

However, my site earned $111 this month already and is on an up-trend all the way. It did have a traffic spike this month but this will continue to happen as I own a fan-site for someone who was a celebrity by association at first and now just popular themself . Anytime something 'crazy' happens, traffic pikes and it can be by 15,000 uniques a day for 3 days.

Last month it earned $71 i believe. The month before ~$25.. month before that like $12 (launch month )

It's a no competition niche and i've developed 2 sites in the niche , no traces of links to own the top ranks in search. The 2nd has not yet risen into prominence yet.

I want to sell the first site, which I listed the revenue for , at a price of $1200. It's earning $100+ per month now EASILY. Is that too much to ask ?

It's newer but when Google shows exact search is 140,000 per month and you are top 3/4 in Serps, at that point, does common sense not tell you, it's not a 'fluke' ?

update ! My site looks to be moving along. On it's last 4 hours, we shall see if it works.

Will tell you guys this, I 'digg' and 'reddit' my auction links now. Those pages come up high in search, so I hope / assume it will help with sale of site.

Good luck, Good idea with digging your auctions. I twit all my auctions all the times and helps with bids. The more bids the better.

I'm looking to invest in sites myself. I'm semi-retired and interest returns on investments suck. CDs pay less than 1% and when you factor in cost of living they are negative returns.

I was planning on investing in sites that have not been properly structured and wanted to improve conversion. Now with Google and their Panda/Penguin crap I'm sure traffic has effected sales of many sites.

Maybe it's a great time to buy?

I think WordPress has diminished the value of basic sites. If you have an established site that has a verifiable earnings track record, it's still saleable. But these quick slap-up-and-sell sites are not viewed as worth much anymore.
