Trying something different

I have a blog that does ok. I usually pick up 5-8 subscribers to my list every day. Nothing amazing but its built a pretty decent list of 400+ so far. I'm using Aweber and have no problems with it. The way aweber is set up, when you put in your email/name you get a return email for confirmation then there is a 'welcome' email that I put together that is sent afterwards. To entice people to subscribe to the list, I offer a couple of handy reports and some online resources that I spent time gathering up that are useful to people who come to the blog would be intersted in. All that information, and links to download what is offered is in that 'Welcome' email.

There is one major clickbank offer that I hit my list with and that usually nets a couple sales every time i send it out But there is a large portion of the list that either dont open the mail or their spam filters kill it. So it occured to me that it might be better to just put the clickbank product, along with some resources that I hunted high and low to compile that will go well with the CB offer, and put it in the welcome letter.

yeah i know..captain obvious on the case. has anyone else ever tried this? what was the response?
