More ways to sell my health/fitness product?

I own a tangible health/fitness product and have grown it to 100 customers so far in under 1 month (I do all the shipping and fulfillment). I'm looking for some more ways to promote and drive sales. Below is what I've currently done and my experience with it -- any help/tips would be greatly appreciated!

- Word of mouth (I'm active in the gym)
- Facebook wall posts (on large fitness related pages, some converted very well)
- Twitter posts (on fitness related accounts)
- Adwords (few conversions - not my strongest point)
- Some bloggers reviewed my product
- Got some press coverage (fox news, mademan, yahoo)

I recently added it to an affiliate network as well so I'm hoping for affiliates to push it. I also would like to make it an upsell for affiliates in this space (cpa is $10 only) so what is the best way to do this?

Looking for fresh ideas and tips to expand. Thank you everyone.

What about YouTube? Make an informational video about your product. It's a free and powerful medium to get exposure.

Whatever you do, do it well. Do it so well that when people see you do it, they will want to come back and see you do it again and they will want to bring others and show them how well you do what you do.~ Walt Disney.

That's definitely a good idea. I've been trying to get in touch with some top youtubers in this space but nobody answers. I feel like just making an info video would get very few views -- any thoughts or ideas?

You could try giving them some kind of compensation (maybe monetary) for promoting your product. I know that this is how a lot of beauty gurus on YouTube make money, by doing sponsored videos.

Yeah Youtube is great if you don't mind showing yourself demonstrating the product, and the proper workout routine that should go along with the product. Find a good camcorder at your local Walmart.

Recently joined an affiliate program (offer just went live) so I do hope that helps. I'm currently only with one network and talking with another. What are some of the best networks for health/fitness?

      Thank you

Try advertising in them and if you are getting results, consider publishing relevant articles (not self-promotional). Most publishers will allow a byline or bio with a link to your website.

How do I go about finding newsletters to advertise in? It seems google shows a lot of list selling which looks shady

          @marcom10

There may be other resources, but what I use on a daily basis for finding publications for my ads/articles is the Directory of Ezines (directoryofezines.com), Magazines.com, Writers' Market, chambers of commerce, and trade associations. You may also consider some relevant blogs and websites; there's millions of them in that niche. Do a search for health, fitness and drill down using Google's suggested related searches or use your keywords.

@myob Do you pay to have your ads and articles placed in these publications? I'm just wondering how you approach some if these with your ads/articles to be published; especially some of the huge ones.

Well I know some fitness gurus who seem to do most of their marketing on forums. It usually takes a lot of time, but some of these guys became so popular they wound up becoming sponsors of the forums they go to.

Problem with that is the amount of dedication it takes, but when done right you can make a killing.

Aside from that, I'd try writing stories for newspapers and fitness mags. Just write the best content you can and keep submitting to different places, eventually someone should accept your article. I've worked out my entire life so I love fitness/eating healthy as possible but thats just about all I can think of right now.

Good idea. I have talked with a few forums and sponsorships can be pricey but I will look at other ways to dive into the conversation

My boss is my martial arts instructor. He jumped off the phone yesterday with a supplement supplier and couldn't help talking about him.

While on the phone finding out more the dude recommended a different product because it was equally good to what my boss wanted (but cheaper) and also gave some decent information.

While my boss wasn't having a usual customer-seller conversation because we work in a martial arts school he found out this this supplement supplier is more interested in talking about nutrition than supplements.

Anyways... turns out he does talks on nutrition and likely going to come down and do a talk to our students. My boss will become a fan and user of his products and he'll likely pick up a few recommendations and customers along the way.

An offline way to promote his online supplement business. The difference being this online supplement seller wasn't scared of answering the phone.

Thanks Big Al. Seems like an interesting idea -- I'll have to poke around to find the right people to call (I'm reaching out to personal trainers)

YouTube is an amazing way to get yourself high up and google and popular amongst people looking for fitness products. I was just having a look today, and there are some fitness instructors on their who have over half a million views. If you are willing to stand in front of a camera and talk for even 3 minutes, you could over time have a great fitness channel, and you could promote your product that way. Since you have contacts at the gym, you might be able to get a fitness instructor to help you out, and you could maybe pay him a fee.

Start posting useful comments on YouTube fitness / health videos - you will get yourself known. Could help with sales.

How about a brandable pdf as a free download? Your affiliate can promote that and include their affiliate link in that, then any sales that come from them you can make some wonga.

Mike Geary's site has been developed over years, and is filled with a LOT of information. However, I can't seem to find too much of info on his product on YouTube. He has some great strategies.

Have you got an email list to email your product to? Maybe send out some solo ads?

    All the best :-)

Find an autority in the area if you can. I am cerified fitness Trainer but I already have my own type of health products that I am promoting. Although I have been successful doing it the way I am, I am looking to team up with a guru in the technology/marketing/online feild. So try and see if you can find the same. Just like the martial arts business owner, your fitness person could do the health/fitness/info part and you could do the other part. That creates credibility and in turn trust for your consumers. Good luck.
